So there's no need to worry everybody peeps because our beloved 'keeper of the abacus' has announced its been an absolutely spiffing year for revenue!, not so much on the trophy front, but hey, you can't have it all-right?

mr. deadwood has announced he and others are working tirelessly to bring world class signings to old trafford and he's going to back jose with big signings going forward, so pack up your troubles boys, good times are acoming! - one synical reprobate is insinuating that since he - mr. deadwood - tied his colours to the goodship jose, he's a bit jittery about being turfed out on his bottom if jose gets tanked by the owners? i tell you what, if this season was being filmed for amazon prime, the numbers of views would trounce pups' citeh big time!

It’s the only god news story there is, let’s shout about it. Woodward should be removed from footballing matters with immediate effect and move back into a commercial role.

Our tactics and set up today against a second tier team today have been really really poor .
At the start of last season we looked good but regressed over the season imo we are continuing to regress.

The results were great Jred - but it was a trap. We just were clinical and took the few chances we created in blitzes for about a month. Our play was just as negative and laboured, we just hit a purple patch of finishing in bursts.

Enough has to be enough now. That team we put out with a decent manager in charge would have it competing, not getting outplayed by Derby County.

We're going backwards and can't blame it all on Pogba. Yes I'd love to see the back of him, but Jose is playing out of date football. We have a good squad, better than the teams that are beating us but our football is dire, and that's down to Jose. Abramovich wanted him out for his style of play and its happening to us. Just wasted another 2 hours of my life watching this toilet. Replacing Pogba wouldn't be difficult but where do we go after Jose?

25 Sep 2018 22:30:26
Really not sure what to suggest here.

It’s not working and there are no signs of progress in terms of style or results.

How much worse could it get if we put Giggs in charge under a good DoF? At least he’d play attacking football and gets the club. big risk but this is dross.

Sarri reckons Chelsea will be at the same level as 'pool. I find that believable.
How long do you think it will take us?
I think it will take us a lot longer. A while back I was shouted down for suggesting that we would struggle for top 6. In spite of slight stuttering improvement I still think that is the case.
I know it will not be a popular opinion, just honest when I look at the facts.
My optician did not give me rose tinted specs let alone the dark red one a lot of posters seem to have.

When José came I thought it would take 3 years to sort us out. I will repeat that assertion starting afresh today. We have made progress but at such a slow rate.
I am not calling for the Managers head but I am beginning to have doubts. Doubts that even the club do not back him. I think they are right to resist expensive older short term signings, but this puts them at odds with the manager.
Any thinking person will understand this situation will not work. Some thing has to give.

we are at the point where top 4 is achievable and nothing more

especially playing this absolute shambles of football.

we may beat the likes of young boys and teams the lower end of the table but when it comes to playing the better teams we will struggle.

i am dreading playing liverpool and city playing the way we are.

We need a winning mentality in the team, and that requires older pros who have won things and act professionally, to act as leaders and role models for the younger ones. Men who always give their best and expect it from those around them. Our squad has been lacking the required percentage of these rules for years, and it shows.

That's why Jose bringing in proven pros and winners was key, but the board don't see the psychological value it has on the squad, only the monetary and sell on value and the number of years we would get out of them. That's why signings like Blanc, Larsson and Ibrahimovic were masterstrokes.

23 Sep 2018 00:43:22
I can see massive improvement in the team, with lots of our moves being 1 pass away from being great. I think in the coming weeks, provided Mourinho keeps the faith with what is emerging as our best 10/11 we are going to get a lot of goals.

24 Sep 2018 11:00:59
Gds do you actually believe that our performances have been good enough?
If this was 5 years back then it would still be OK but with our rivals like city and pool dominating matches, I don't think it's an overreaction if the fans criticize the team. Even in the matches we won, we never finished off the opponents. We were always on the backfoot and if it wasn't for DDG, it could have been a lot different. There's an over reliance on the keeper which is not a good thing and our attacking play is just pathetic. The only way fans console themselves these days is if the other top teams draw a match ( while dominating it) .

Maybe I'm a touch optimistic but I think our play has quickened and if Sanchez can find form (or gets replaced), lukaku too, starts doing what he does best we are going to score more goals. Shaw has been great and Fred for me adds energy and quality. Key is sticking with more or less the same 10/11. I may be wrong and if I am I'll hold my hands up.

22 Sep 2018 22:06:38
So frustrating. Thought we played as well as we have in the last 5 years today. We are not getting much luck at the moment too. I was asking for mourinos head few weeks back and I also said pogba could do 1 (mostly cause he won't just come out and say he's happy) . But I'm delighted with how we played today and I feel someone is getting punished soon.

Believable1 7Unbelievable

23 Sep 2018 04:58:49
If we didn't have DDG we would have been out of the game in the 1st half itself.
On the subject of punishment, fans are getting that week in week out. The players will just go back and enjoy without any remorse while being paid hundreds of thousands of pounds for producing such a " great performance". Whereas the fans who have religiously followed the club for their whole lives and it actually brings them true happiness if the team even puts in some sort of effort will be left frustrated and waiting for the next match in hope that these overpaid footballers will " punish some team ".

Maybe United only sent scouts to watch him like they do for a lot of players and media are making it a big deal. Thanks in advance.

Over the last few days we've been linked with Lucas Paqueta at Flamengo, any info on this Ed? Apparently we are looking at a January deal, can't say I've ever heard him really. Thanks.

Believable0 0Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - It is an interesting question and I am surprised no one has aked before - but I guess few seem interested in transfers nowadays - just whining. Lucas Paqueta has been watched recently by Manchester United (or more precisely, on behalf of Manchester United) after advice taken from a third party. There was interest from several parties in the summer but the only direct approaches for the player I was aware of then were from Benfica (who can't afford him) and Milan (who had struggled to get the attacking midfield player they wanted and made an approach - but due to their finances and what they have to spend they would need to sell Suso to make it viable - but interest does remain still as we move in to the new season. Manchester City, Chelsea and Real Madrid all looked at the player on more than one occasion but none has shown any interestedntaking it any further at this time - he would be a replacement for David Silva at Manchester City but they have yet to agree how and when he will exit the club - and would he get game time? There is now interest growing from elsewhere with PSG looking at him as a more attacking midfield player than Rabiot who will be leaving, but space would need to be made by a side that is overrun with wingers at this time and having to play people out of position. Barcelona have had him watched and may look again now that Coutinho has taken Portuguese citizenship - although UEFA could yet object.}

In your opinion ed, is he worth a punt? (I have no info on him beyond you tube) and if so, how much do you expect him to cost the buying club?

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - No, the feeling of some who have looked at him is that the English game would not suit a player interested primarily in tricks. You can see him end up in the stands on a regular basis. I would rather stay away from the finances for a while on the MU pages.}

is there any legs to the Icardi to United rumour, Eds?

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any rumour but don’t hold your breath.}

17 Sep 2018 21:23:40
Thanks Ed, he’d be a good signing, a young captain too. Will a good Director of Football mean we’ll unearth players of a similar caliber? Or Will he just bring negotiating for already high calibre players a smoother process?

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - Icardi has hardly been unearthed. The unearthing of players comes from scouts normally.}

17 Sep 2018 21:34:58
your right, I suppose time will tell what a Director of Football will actually bring to the club, more drama likely, I think we’ve been a tabloids dream the past years.

Ed,

Do we still hold an interest in Savic from Lazio. Pogba most likely to go and i think Savic will be a good replacement.

{Ed002's Note - The interest will still be there but the chances of signing the player are slim and I expect the club will need to look elsewhere for a solution when Pogba goes Singh.}

Ed,

Thanks for the reply.

Can i ask about the players we are going to target instead of Savic? .

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United are not making any efforts regarding a Pogba replacement at this time but if they were and assuming the manager remains unchanged then it would be likely the targets would remain the same as they have been with the club considering the likes of Toni Kroos and Lorenzo Pellegrini. Gedson Fernandes is still too young in my view but Mr Mourinho is keen. Maybe the toxics can see now the damage they done when the meeting was cancelled regarding a move for Saul Niguez - who someone associated with the club will still like to persuade to move to Manchester? Maybe Sam Allardyce will have his own views? We'll see but right now the club are not making a Pogba replacement any sort of priority and won't unless there is a push for something to happen in January.}

18 Sep 2018 19:11:33
Thanks for the reminder Ed002, player i was thinking of was Saul as i wanted to ask Ed001 if it's possible for him to write up a player profile on him. Lovely lovely player he is, also any chance we can sign Lionel Messi Ed? 😂😂 About time we get someone in to score freekicks👀.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - added him to the list. Wonderful player, I have been raving about him for years but no one else seemed to agree that he was special until now.}

18 Sep 2018 19:32:52
I really sat up and took notice when he scored the solo goal vs Bayern in 15/ 16, was exquisite, skill, guile, strength, precision, he is brilliant. If he played for Barca/ Madrid instead of Atletico maybe he would of been raved about much earlier Ed.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - yeah fair point. I remember him in youth football looking a class apart and wondering why he was only at Atleti, so you make a good point, they are overshadowed there.}

Hi Ed’s and anyone else in the know.
Are we seriously in for the director football from athletico?
Sounds we are looking to appoint a defensiv minded DOF to go along with our last three defensive minded managers.
What’s going on in the club?
Thx an advance.

Believable0 1Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - Andrea Berta was the Director of Football chosen as the desired choice of Mr Mourinho in 2016. I cannot answer the "seriously in for" aspects of your question but the club are looking for a Director of Football and Berta was one of the two that Mr Mourinho was comfortable with but he has since then been promoted from his position as Technical Director to the co-ordination role of Director of Football which might well suit Woodward but would not address the true problem the club has. If appointed to a similar role at MU it would be another major mistake.}

12 Sep 2018 12:54:24
Thank you Ed.

What is the major problem at the club?
Wrong people making footballing Decisions? If so who are making the decisions?
Thanks.

30 Aug 2018 01:44:37
I think its a case of when, not if unfortunately, SAF was right about his agent for sure, when he does go, he can take his roller and his chauffer and shove it.

Agree2 2Disagree

30 Aug 2018 10:30:14
If it was good enough for Fergie it’s good enough for me was my barometer on things so if he wasn’t fussed on Pogba leaving back then it says a lot to me. Before we signed him I thought he was vastly overrated and he’s done nothing to change that opinion. If Pogba was sold in this window without a replacement would we really be that much worse off, I don’t think so, Herrera offers much more in a game certainly in terms of effort. Fred also looks very energetic and I know effort isn’t everything but effort is more than Pogba offers. We’ve been waiting for how long for Pogba to step up, I’m not sure we will see it.

Agree8 2Disagree

I think Pereira, could do really well in the more advanced midfield role, good range of passing, can beat a man and has a good shot on him.

30 Aug 2018 11:31:02
i agree tot66, pereira seems to have a level head on him too, i think he could be a real asset, i also think gomes could play in that no 10 role. I’m hoping Pogba will go to be honest, i’d much prefer out present youth to develop and look at him as a lesson learned, great talent is nothing without desire and integrity.

Agree3 0Disagree

30 Aug 2018 11:32:41
Well we have one more day so we shall see. I’m sad he might leave, only because of the promise he has which he has only shown in glimpses with us. If we can recoup what we paid for him then I see no reason to block the move. Herrera is great, and Andreas could step up. Lingard has shown for us and England he can be a very effective midfielder.

Maybe the game in Spain or Italy is more suitable to his style?

Agree0 0Disagree

30 Aug 2018 11:40:23
Maybe be was brilliant for the best team in the Italian league but he’s not been for United, the top players play well in any team.

Agree4 3Disagree

30 Aug 2018 12:00:16
I'm not sure he was brilliant but he was good and was excellent in the WC .
He is far better than his current form for United would suggest.

Fergy said many times and in fact it's in his book that he wanted to keep pogba but the lad wouldn't sign a contract .
Don't forget we never sold him he left.

Agree4 1Disagree

30 Aug 2018 12:37:59
I think his World Cup form is overplayed a bit, he was good in parts especially the final for that half and was ok in the tournament but was as absent for France as he was for united at many times.
He’s had a handful of good games for United but he’s never reached the level everyone says he can, maybe it’s not in him too, maybe he’s at his level.
Yeah he left for free, Fergie never moved heaven and earth to keep him tho. Overall, if he left today I don’t think we will miss him even without a replacement.

Agree1 4Disagree

30 Aug 2018 12:47:35
Fergie wanted to keep him, people have short memories.

How about you get behind Pogba (our best player bar DDG) the same way you are urging us tk get behind Jose? He is a young guy who is trying our best and has the ability. Various coaches have had him playing like a world-beater, maybe when we have a different one he will be back to top form.

Certainly, there are no upsides to selling him as it is too late to replace him and there are few midfielders who have talent like he does at his age and the others who do would cost the heaven and earth.

Agree10 3Disagree

30 Aug 2018 13:00:08
Fergy said he was offered a sizable contract, but he was always going to leave.
I'm sure the ed said at the time he was always leaving.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - of course he was going to leave, he refused to allow Fergie's son to be his agent.}

30 Aug 2018 13:13:13
I'm sure ed2 covered why pogba was always going to leave at the time.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - no idea but that is why he left and why Fergie refused to play him.}

30 Aug 2018 13:25:01
I though 02 said he wouldn't play him because he wouldn't sign a new contract .
I'm sure he called it 12 month before hand . Lot of debate on here at about given pogba playing time etc but ed no point the player and family want a move .

Not that it matters really, either way it doesn't sound like it was a purely football decision.

Agree0 1Disagree

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea what Ed02 said, I am telling you why it happened. No youth player got played unless they joined the agency Fergie told them to join.}

30 Aug 2018 16:21:47
I get behind any player that pulls a shirt on for this club but if they are not good enough or don’t try for that shirt then I am not going to blindly follow them. There are too many that fall into the above categories at United and as for Pogba if he’s ‘the best at United bar ddg’ then he needs to step up and prove he is, so far he hasn’t.

Agree1 1Disagree

30 Aug 2018 16:47:11
That’s an interesting snippet of info ed01, would the asu’s agency’s have taken as much advantage as the likes of raiola?
