Expect a decision on the fabregas saga in the next 24 to 48 hours. This is because moyes is back in England and will discuss it with Woodward. Also they will discuss Rooney.

1.) 30 Jul 2013
At long last, they are should have dealt with the Rooney situation earlier tbh but that's ok though.

2.) 30 Jul 2013
Well things are not looking good. 3 weeks till the season starts and hey guess what. United are advertising season tickets. So all us ever faithful mugs have not been hoodwinked by these mystery bids for all these players. Expect some action soon guys they will have to buy someone. By the way this mug has renewed

They cannot allow unsold seats at OT
Or is possibly Scholesy coming out of retirement again. Or let's throw in a quick bid of £50 million for bale that will get them excited. No possible way it will be accepted but at least we have made a bid, not our fault there's no value in the market. let's see what turns up in the January window
Well sorry Glazers Woodward and whoever else is trying to con us, it will not wash with us any more.

3.) 30 Jul 2013
United will put a final bid in for cesc as a matter off course. But the deal is dead in the water he wants to stay at Barca and will play a bigger part in there campaign next year.
The irony is if thiago would have stayed cesc would have gone and visa versa.
My thought is we were to slow out the blocks again.

4.) 30 Jul 2013
Are people really stupid enough to think that United only pretend to sign players to sell tickets?
The type of fans that would attract anyway we can do without at OT.

5.) 30 Jul 2013
I'm glad the pennys dropped, yeah the Glaziers have pulled in some nice financial deals but their acquisition of our club has surely hampered our development and our ability to compete in the transfer market. Yeah we have spend some money for all the glazier fans there but we could of spend a lot more without them!

Plus here's a thought for you maybe Fergie/Gill seen something like this happening and decided to step aside.

6.) 30 Jul 2013
Fabregas would be a great signing and all but I think we have missed a trick in not going for James McCarthy of Wigan, great player with Prem exp and be cheaper than most other targets

7.) 30 Jul 2013
I can see us being left with Fellani & Bains, what a fantastic window these two really push the squad to new heights!

Dave

8.) 30 Jul 2013
I don't get the Baines hate. He's much better than Evra. Fellaini is also a very good player but i'm not sure i'd want him here.

Dan

9.) 30 Jul 2013
Many have whinged and whined over our midfield and Evra for years even if it was only those 2 they would definately improve our team not as much as we want but still we would improve

10.) 30 Jul 2013
Whether we like it or not, we are going to end up with Fellaini. May be Modric at best! If we bid 26 and 30 million for Fabregas, a player that would significantly improve the midfield quality there is no way we will bid 80 million on Bale!

11.) 30 Jul 2013
Baines & Fellanini have 1 good season at an average club and all of a sudden they are going to improve the premier league champions, Not in my opinion. Baines takes the odd good free-kick and Fellanini kicks & punches people. It just shows how our standards are lowering if this is the best we can get.

All of the "big" teams in Europe have gone out and spent big on top players. We are fast drifting into "Arsenal territory" with our transfer policy. We suggest we are bidding on top players which fall down at the last minute.

No doubt I will get shot down for being disloyal! I have supported United for 35 years, go to the matches when I can, buy the shirts, renew my membership, subscribe to sky/espn/bt all to ensure the club coffers are topped up! I pay my due's I have my opinion.

#inmoyesidonttrust or Woodward or the glazers either

12.) 30 Jul 2013
Ozil is younger and far better than Modric. Eriksen is young, full of the creative flair we lack, quick and will cost 15 - 18 million. For all the crap some of you guys talk of Fellaini, he is the steel we've lacked since Keane in his hayday. Plus he has EPL experience, improves every season and is versatile. Cabaye is another who gets slagged off on here, some joker said"he's no better than Cleverley". Cabaye is streets better than Mr Average, I'd cost 6 -9 million Cleverley. Cleverley is OK playing for a poor to average team like England, but out of his league at a top club like United. We've Zaha, Lindgard and Januzaj all look likely to start making their mark in the domestic cups and the odd subs appearance in the league. Baines is the best left back in the EPL and would be a great buy at around 15 million. So Qzil or Eriksen, or Cabaye plus Fellaini and Baines would represent a good summer dealing IMO. We should also keep Rooney if possible, but if he really wants to go, we could get by without him, just play Kagawa in the hole. If he left we could buy a winger like Bernard or El Sharaway, both wingers who can play through the middle. I'm sure we'll finish up with a net spend of 50m to 60m, maybe more. Like everyone else I'm a little anxious, waiting for the 3 additions or so we need. However, give Moyes a chance, there are still plenty of players, that would improve our already good and deep squad. I wish folk wouldn't get so hung up on "marquee" players, (stupid bloody name), CR7 just is too old for 80 million, Bale is a great buy for 40 or 50 million, but just isn't worth nearly 100 million. Neymar cost under 50 million and has already played more top seasons then Bale and he's only 21. Always remember we are Manchester United, the greatest team in the world.
Mik

13.) 30 Jul 2013
Am I one of the only people that believe even felliani would improve our midfield? Our only half decent player is mr carrick himself, Anderson cleverly are to inconsistent and average squad players at best, united need players like fabregas, modric ozil alonso, even cabaye would improve our midfield where's a young frank scholes when you need him

14.) 30 Jul 2013
Ozil is not capable of being a deep lying playmaker which is what we need. Ozil can't set the pace of a game and control it. He does what Kagawa would do for us as a creative forward and what Rooney does/did. There aren't many top deep lying playmakers around that are even remotely attainable. Fabregas and Modric are the only ones I can think of that could be deemed top class and we need to go all out for them, even if there's only a small chance of getting one of them.

Dan

15.) 30 Jul 2013
No one wants to play for united. David and Woods are failure to lure world class players. I miss Fergie. Brace for tougher times ahead!

16.) 30 Jul 2013
I really can't believe "Mik" has likened Fellanini to Keane. Not even fit to clean his boots mate.

According to the England manager Baines is not the best left back in the country. I'd take Luke Shaw at Southampton who would be good back for Evra.

We are indeed Manchester United, but we must improve the squad to remain the greatest team in the world (if in footballing terms we currently are?)

Dave

17.) 30 Jul 2013
Why don't we just sack Moyes now. The man has no idea along with his new sidekick Woodward how to compete in the transfer market. At least Fergie got someone in every year wether world beaters or forget me nots. I fear the worse guy, s our time of total domination is now a thing of the past. We're going to win feck all.

Rock the red

18.) 30 Jul 2013
Far too many people posting on here haven't got a clue

19.) 30 Jul 2013
If we are to sell Rooney which a few people have talked about would we not offer him as a straight swap to Dortmund and get lewandowski. There around the same value and I think we are getting the better end of the deal plus he won't be playing in England against us

20.) 30 Jul 2013
Dave, thank god, you are a person that speaks sense!as much as we would like an attacking midfielder I do feel with carrick hitting 32 years of age, I reckon we need a holding midfielder but Feilaini is not the answer!hes not he type of player who can sit in midfield and place passes across midfield!he does have a lot of aggression and strenght but he is more of target man to win headers!he is not quick, not great on the ball, clumsy, he simply is not top quality!i would prefer us to put a bid in for Arturo Vidal, they call him the warrior in Italy, a tough tackling midfielder whom can spread
the ball and has a eye for goal, but I would say it would be farely difficult to pize him away from Juve,

SuperRed

21.) 30 Jul 2013
I don't know why everyone is slagging off moyes it is not his job to sign the players he would of been asked which players he would ideally like and also which plan b signings once we have permission to talk to the player then it is down to moyes to convince the player that united is the club to be at until then it is down to woodward and the suits who are putting in stupid bids that are never going to be accepted

Red79

22.) 30 Jul 2013
You still don't get it Mik. It's not jusst about how good Fellaini is (although there's plenty of room for debate there), it's about him not being the kind of player we need, ie. a central playmaker like Fabregas, Modric, Cabaye, Herrera, Gundogan etc.

23.) 30 Jul 2013
To many FM people here. If they play in a certain area of the pitch on FM that we are in need of that means they're a good fit for the team. Carrick does our defensive work now, he's not Keane, he does it a different way and we're not replacing him with a tough tackling or in FM terms "defensive midfielder". The midfielder we buy will play next to Carrick and be our creative midfielder that sets up attacks, controls the game and sets the pace of the game. The players to do this are ones the last poster suggested i. e. Fab, Modric, Gundogan, Herrera, Cabaye. Ozil/Kagawa and the like can't play there!

Dan

24.) 30 Jul 2013
Dave, I have to disagree about Baines. He's been quality for a few years now and last season was outstanding. I can only think u haven't seen enough of him because he is the star man for Everton every other week. Most attacks go through him and there's not many better crossers in the lge. With his delivery RVP etc would have a field day. Agree on Fellaini though.

25.) 30 Jul 2013
I honestly beleive that if we were to go 5 or 6 yrs without winning the league then half the people who post on this site would find somewhere else to post their crap! Yes, it's nice to get a new player of reputed world class talents, something we never do. oh, apart from RVP, and Berba, oh and Ronaldo, oh and Rooney and Veron oh, nearly forgot Keane. get real, we do sign world class players, but where as we have to earn our money, more and more, others are fed by sugar daddies. chelsea, bitters, PSG, Monaco, ( no tax there either!), or they're bank rolled by the Govt of Spain! Supporting your club is about that, not just getting giddy when we sign a so called 'stella' signing! Or spitting your dummy out when someone else has the termacity to sign one of our targets. Show a little respect for the players who won the league last year by 11 points and to some very good young talent which we can't afford to block.

J - Stand

26.) 30 Jul 2013
Exactly what Dan said, at least as far as our main signing goes.

Once that is taken care of, a tough tackler would be nice, but even then, the days of needing a "holding" type defensive midfielder are gone. What would be needed instead is a player who is about winning the ball back, which is not the same as a defensive midfielder. If properly fit and back to form, Fletcher is one of the best of this type around, with energy and workrate to pressure players into mistakes. The other kind would be a Toure type, with both pass and power to bully the opposition, but also technical skill and passing ability to use the ball well. Fellaini is neither of these, and he's basically a deeper lying version of Emile Heskeys later years, albeit a much, much better one!

27.) 30 Jul 2013
Fair point Boyley I haven't seen a lot of Everton I tend to watch football first rather than MOTD. I just don't think he is that much of an improvement on Evra. They both bomb forward, Evra probably has more pace, Baines more poise. neither is brilliant at defending IMO.

Fellaini is simply not United class. I think the jury is out on Moyes, a bad start to the season and he could get a lot of stick.

IMO if Rooney wants to go let him but insist on Mata as part of the deal with Chelski. I would like to see us go after Di Maria and Ozil.

Dave

"Baines & Fellanini have 1 good season at an average club"

Dave, if that's your opinion I won't put too much weight to the rest of your post!

Well said J-stand most sensible post in this conversation

Gonna have to agree with Stew4d, got bored of reading most posts here after reading 'Rock the Red's post.

What is with fans having no patience these days and being so quick to judge? Believe!

We need 2 midfielder -one an attack minded creative type and the other a ball winner. I like Fellaini and think he is miles better than our current midfielder, except for Carrick that is. Of course I understand that he isn't a Roy Keane, but then Modric or Cesc are not Scholes either. The point is that Fellaini is at his best playing as a DMF and we don't have anyone to fill that role. We could play Jones there, but he is far better playing CB, his distribution isn't good enough for the middle of the park. The other point is that Modric just isn't THAT good and I think someone younger would be better. I think Eriksen, who can play wide, or in the middle, is already nearing Modric quality and will grow into something better. I guess we can all moan about the players we can't and won't get, the excellent Videl won't be leaving Italy for us. Nor Ronaldo, Messi, Cesc, Videl or Neymar. If we look at who is possible then Fellaini and Eriksen or even Cabaye ( I know he's 27 too)are available and would like to come here. We could stick with the old -Giggs, -the fat -Anderson and the poor -Cleverley. Or we could add Fellaini and Eriksen or Cabaye and have a midfield that isn't just the impeccable Mr Carrick. Fellaini, Cabaye and Baines sound so much more reassuring then Anderson Cleverley and Evra. It's time to get real or just keep playing fantasy football where you can get who you want, without using real money.
