Got a big surprise yesterday as I was speaking to a United 1st team player who told me that they had all expected Fabregas and Ronaldo to be signed. It seems we were a lot closer than it appears. He seemed genuinely surprised they hadn't signed

Wow. That is something, especially Ronaldo.

Surely next summer is the one for Ronaldo.

I Understand after RM got knocked out the CL, Mendez and united started discussions on Ronaldo's return. That is why when people post bs here about the club misleading fans and not wanting to spend money, many have no clue. We were also misled on Fabregas so give the club and the new manager some respect.

Amid the euphoria of the early days of this transfer window, and wish lists and talk of a £60m war chest, I came across a speech by Woodward in which he was quoted as saying 'no need for major signings at the club. Maybe a little tinkering around the edges'.

I tried to post his comments but for whatever reason they weren't accepted. It does tend to reinforce those who claim no significant signings were ever going to happen.

Nice to see us turn our attentions to Modric. How many times has he turned us down already?

Really?! that surprises me not so much on the Fabregas front but Ronaldo I thought that was an impossible dream.Well at least it seems the club are trying to get the best.
Very strange window this year I don't particularly think any of the big clubs have strengthened that much tbh I know city have got numbers in but they are not exactly fantastic players and Chelsea have bought squad players imo.

I was talking to a Spurs coach Saturday night and they were all expecting Bale to leave, but that the rumour was he was going to Madrid to replace Cristiano. The feeling around Spurs was that Madrid's recent "cooling" statements about the Bale transfer are as much about United's negotiation for Cristiano having broken down as they are about playing hardball over price. He also said he didn't think United's Cristiano negotiations were completely dead.

He also said he'd been told that Arsenal had been told by Fabregas' representatives that he had no interest in returning to the Emirates when they enquired.

I did ask him whether Spurs would take Ashley Young off our hands and he just laughed at me.
