A lot of rumours saying Everton want £45m for Fellaini and Baines. With MU willing to offer £35m. So I think they will meet in the middle at around £40m. £23m for Fellaini and £17m for Baines perhaps? Seems fair.

Sydney!

1.) 20 Aug 2013
I don't think so. Fellaini had a clause of 23m so why offer this now, when we could have offered it before then. Moyes knew this?

Baines is not worth 17mil for a player with his age. £35 mil is the max we should go to.

2.) 20 Aug 2013
So £12 million more then our 1st bid? £23 million for a midfield bully with no ability to control a game, not exactly the summer we were hoping for!
£40 million would be better spent elsewhere, I know evra is on the decline but a midfielder that can set the tempo and control games is what we need to be spending money on and until we get that I wouldn't be picking up the phone to Kenwright ( and even if we did, I still wouldn't!)

3.) 20 Aug 2013
Sydney where did you hear United where willing to offer £35m? Nearly doubling Uniteds original offer seems a bit too much to me.

4.) 20 Aug 2013
Fabs, neither are my first choice, but they are Moyes' choices.

RedDub, the original offer was £28m, £35m is £7m more. That's 25% more, not 100% more my friend.

5.) 20 Aug 2013
Personally think £12 million for Baines is excessive. £17 million would be ridiculous. A lot of our fans get blinded by Baines crossing ability and don't realise he is as weak defending as Evra, if not weaker. Prefer Evra all day long

6.) 20 Aug 2013
Syd when I said doubling our original bid I was referring to Everton suggesting the pair are worth £45m

7.) 20 Aug 2013
Interesting to read that Buttner's agent has said that Moyes told him that a transfer for Buttner is definitely not an option but perhaps a loan move away. Makes you wonder are we actually in for Baines? Seems overpriced for what it's worth. Also Evra has been playing well so far and seems happy so maybe we're after Fellaini and Barkley? No names have officially been mentioned so who knows.

8.) 20 Aug 2013
40million seems fair.? For those 2 players?
That's too much.
Personally 20 mill for fellaini MAX
and about 12.5 for Baines, otherwise spend elsewhere.

9.) 20 Aug 2013
All though Fellaini will improve our side and will hopefully take the place of Tom Cleverley I am really struggling with the fact that we are prepared to pay between 20-25 million pounds for him.
There are so many better players in Europe for around the same price maybe 5-10 million pounds more.

10.) 20 Aug 2013
Sydney, I have to say I'm a little surprised at those valuations. No doubt we delayed far too long and prices rise the window goes on but I couldn't live with close to that amount.
Personally I'd value Fellaini at 20-22M and Baines at no more than 15M. So 35-37M is probably fair enough. You would surely have to add a premium for the late nature of the bids but 45M is far too much for me.

With the Bale deal seemingly all but agreed I think we'd be mad not to make a reasonable offer for either Modric or Ozil now. And by reasonable I don't mean the insulting offers that Ed Woodward seems to favour so far. :-)

11.) 20 Aug 2013
I think they are worth £37m personally, but to Everton they are probably worth £43m. So I think if Moyes wants to get a deal done he will need to pay £40m which I think is fair. Everton will probably be very helpful with the structure of payment too. I think it could be paid in installments as opposed to a lump sum.

RedDub, MU would have known the £28m would be rejected. Now they have got the ball rolling.

Oz, it has crossed my mind mate, but we badly need to replace Evra as defensively we are frail to say the least. Baines is much better at defensing than Evra ever was.

Sydney!

12.) 20 Aug 2013
17 million for Baines is a lot for a 28 yr old. Better younger players out there

13.) 20 Aug 2013
I personally would pay up 35 for the pair. I think Fellaini would do a sterling job in a DM role for us. He needs a foil though so I'd expect someone else to arrive too a more creative link. Baines is quality for me, much better & more consistent than Evra.

14.) 20 Aug 2013
I somehow doubt this. Why would we pay £23m for Fellaini now when we could have signed him a week ago for that amount and have had him fully integrated into the squad in time for the Chelsea squad?

Also; wasn't our initial bid for Baines £11m? If so I can't see us upping our offer by over 150% - nor can I see us paying that much for a player who is worth about £14m.

As I've said before - I'd rather we signed nobody than Baines and Fellaini - especially if it's for £40m!

15.) 20 Aug 2013
There's no way Leighton Baines is worth £12m let alone £17m. He'll be 29 in December and does pretty much what Evra does. Nothing else. As for Fellaini, he might bring a bit of physicality to our midfield so he could improve our team to some extent but he definitely isn't worth more than £20m. If Everton are asking for £45m for the pair, stuff them. We would be better off going into the new season with the players we have. People need to get realistic, we shouldn't get carried away with figures being bandied around by press reports or rumours. If we're looking at filling the leftback position, we're better off getting Luke Shaw for £12m. If we want to spend £22m on a midfielder, we can look at players such as Kondogbia (Sevilla) or Ander Herrera (Bilbao).

James.

16.) 20 Aug 2013
Just a thought - we know Evra can do an attacking job on the left as he was originally a left winger and we are lacking there so could he be switched to play in front of Baines? It would at least give us more options.

17.) 20 Aug 2013
Baines is one of the best Lbs in Europe but he is error prone. Being at Everton he hasn't been under the spotlight as much as Evra, both are defensively naive at times. Still wouldn't argue against Baines. Not bothered about Fellaini I'd much rather have a Modric/Fabregas type of midfielder.

Dan

18.) 20 Aug 2013
Both good players but both possibly not what we need.

Baines:
Evra replacement - yes but 4yr younger be better

Fellaini:
Better Attacking Mid than he is Defensive Mid and its latter we need plus a 'creator'.

19.) 20 Aug 2013
God we do not need Evra to play on the wing we are already overloaded with underperforming wingers! If we are looking at Baines then surely Evra will be going otherwise what is the point. We already have cover and to my mind neither Evra nor Baines will fancy sharing the role with a world cup on the horizon. If we go to £35mil for the 2 and Everton say no then fine let them find another way to pay thier WONGA.COM loans.

20.) 20 Aug 2013
That sounds about right Sydney 35m is about right I don't get how people don't rate Fellaini he is maybe top three at what he does yes he is a bully yes he does not set the tempo that's Carricks job and is not the most skillfull player in the world but tell me a midfield powerhouse who can head the ball both ends like he can a midfielder with his back to goal link up play a midfielder that will make the opposition cringe every time they play him I think its long overdue a midfielder that can boss and bully the middle of the park we have plenty of creative mids and I do think Kagawa will benefit the most with the big fella and he can be as good a creative player as any he just needs a bodyguard all teams top teams need somebody to do the dirty work he can be the best at that and as for Baines he is the best full back in the country shaw may turn out better but he ain't better now or for at least two years so get the best now ala RvP style and we all know what he did for us. Katef

21.) 20 Aug 2013
Fellaini a midfield bully who can't control games?? Are you for real, he controlled us single handed in our last few outings against Everton

22.) 20 Aug 2013
Yep Feilaini cannot control a game, he's not the type of player who will set the pace or control the tempo by spreading passes and he is not even a great dm, he can't tackle for his life, he gives away a lot of free kicks, with his awkward balance and elbows!good target man good header of the ball but couldn't play technical football for his life!thats why I fear he could be used to replace Rooney, as it looks as though he's on his way!Its actualy sad that we one of the greatest clubs in the world would contemplate putting a bid in for him when we need much better quality!hes no better than what we have, squad player at most and a panic buy at that!

23.) 20 Aug 2013
Sydnwy I think you are being a bit generous. I don't think baines is worth 17m. Maybe £15m

24.) 21 Aug 2013
Fellaini IS worth in the 20 -25 million range. I would rather we went for Coentreo if we are to spend big for a left back, 17 -20million would get him and he's younger than Baines. Fellaini and Coentreo for 40 million and Modric for 30 million would see us look stonger. 2 midfielders are the real need. There's still Fellaini and one of Eriksen, Modric, Cabaye, Gondrogen etc. I think Sydney's valuations are good by the way.
Mik

25.) 21 Aug 2013
Everton have stated that they don't need to sell and with 2 weeks left in the window the prices for players change, in a way the balls in there court so they can ask for more if we really want them

26.) 21 Aug 2013
Sydney I can assure you we will not do a deal at 40 million as they are not reotely close to being valued at that number and if that is what everton wants expect both players to stay at everton.

27.) 21 Aug 2013
Are you an accountant Sydney you do love your figures? People slating Fergie for hsi value int he market. does anybody really think £40 is well spent when it doesn't even really improve our first eleven? I will be very dissapointed if this happens.
Invisible STuey

28.) 21 Aug 2013
£38m maybe our limit. Next bid of £33m, then £38m? I think £40m could happen if you include add-ons.

Sydney!

29.) 21 Aug 2013
Sydney

If we wanted to spend that much we could have had them in a united shirt a month ago. Whilst people have their opinions on players and their value, it is very hard to see how we can spend 40 mill on these 2. I think our limit is in the lower 30s and we will move on of we already have not.
