Do any of the Ed's see the supposed move of Mauricio Pochettino to Spurs a positive step in securing Shaw or any other Southampton players?

{Ed002's Note - Entirely unrelated - the situation with Shaw is as simple as making an offer that is acceptable to the club and then the player making a decision. If that can be negotiated down from the figure that Chelsea were quoted in January, then it might also attract a bid from elsewhere. We will see.}

Has our £27 million bid for shaw been rejected?

2.) 27 May 2014
If you snooze you lose. We have dragged our feet too much in regards to Shaw and if Chelsea end up with him after all of this time of negotiating, then Ed Woodward will face the axe. Woodward better start making things happen or he can kiss his MU job goodbye.

3.) 27 May 2014
Pochettino leaving to Spurs has only made or chase stronger Van Gaal will gaurentee him first team football and he may feel Pochettino leaving unstablises the club

I hope we pay what they asked Chelski for in January. I have the feeling that Chelski are just waiting for us to get the price down and then will come in an match it. Being a boyhood Chelski fan I think it's obvious where Shaw would choose to go. If we offer £30m (which I believe was the figure asked of Chelski?) I think we will get him.

5.) 27 May 2014
Paddy, him leaving Southampton was never the issue. If Chelsea ever rivaled us then that was the issue.

redseven, I think it was closer to £35m. I think Chelsea will happily pay £30m for him and like you said Luke is a Chelsea fan.

6.) 27 May 2014
Call me naive but I would like to think that Shaw sees all the effort we have put in and that makes him feel wanted. We've seen players talk about similar things after signing for clubs before. No doubt Chelsea have made it know that they want him but we seem to have put in the leg work which, I hope, would make the difference.

7.) 27 May 2014
Shaw has recently come out lately in disgust (possibly a too strong word) and the departure of several coaches. The Manager leaving must also make him think.

I rate Shaw very highly and think MU should break the bank for him. Having Evra around for another year will do the young lad wonders settling in.

8.) 27 May 2014
TBH tk red out of Chelsea and Man United, Chelsea have made more effort and had a longer interest in him.

9.) 27 May 2014
Syd - £35m is a lot for a player of his level and with his experience; but in this instance I would pay it. Usually I would be against overpaying - but I really do think he will be that good in a year or two.

TK-Red- Assuming we've been haggling over the price (which seems like the case) - would he not think that we didn't value him enough to just pay what was required to take him. They've told us what it will take to get him. If we want him enough we would pay it.

10.) 28 May 2014
I agree with redseven, we shouldn't miss out on a top quality young English player in a position we desperately need just for the sake of saving a few million.

11.) 28 May 2014
MU must only be 2-3 million sterling away from agreeing a deal. Just give it to Southampton in add-ons. There is too much to do this summer to be dragging our feet over Luke Shaw.

{Ed002's Note - You are making up numbers again Syd.}

12.) 28 May 2014
Ed, we cannot be too far away from agreeing a deal with Southampton. Perhaps I should have said "a few million" as opposed to "2-3 million".

Can I ask if MU would be aware of Chelsea asking to be kept in the loop? If so do you think that could give MU the kick up the arse that is needed here?

{Ed002's Note - It rather depends on what you see to be a "Few" Syd - but I would not say that either. As for the second point, I am sure that Manchester United will be aware of the conversation and what Chelsea asked and what Chelsea have agreed with Southampton.}

13.) 28 May 2014
Thanks Ed, can I ask what sort of figure it would take to get Alberto Moreno? Sometimes you know the figure a club will accept, Muniain is an example of this. There have been numerous others. Can you divulge such info or no? Would he cost significantly less than Shaw? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to get in to the figures Syd but there is a different issue related to Moreno - that I am not going to go into here as it is unrelated to MU.}

14.) 28 May 2014
Fair enough Ed, if that issue can be sorted do you think Chelsea would opt for Moreno, or is the home grown quota issue leaning them closer to Shaw? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with the quota Syd, and I doubt the other issue is resolvable. We will see.}
