So now hernandez goes on loan to Real. Woodward is playing a blinder here. How is that helping us?

He's freeing up space and wages.

They are probably paying his wages in full.

3.) 31 Aug 2014
That's right blame woody for getting rid of players that cost us money but contribute SFA

4.) 31 Aug 2014
It's better to loan them out, we're trimming the squad then next season we will get them back when we're back in Europe

5.) 31 Aug 2014
We really need a strong or pacey striker. I mean. How much longer are we going to rely on Van Persie?

I think Real see Hernandez as a useful tool to maintain dominance amoung South American fans. European teams have made a dent in that recently, with aquisitions from Chile, Argentina, Brazil etc. Madrid are trying to tie up their command over the latin speaking world once again. James Rodgriguez comes from a swing state, in the form of Columbia, and Hernandez, the only Mexican with anything to offer a big club, represents another.

Let Madrid take Hernandez. He's a loss in terms of impact from the bench, but if Wellbeck has room to grow, it evens out.

Personally hope that we are making use of these little trades though. Kagawa to Dortmund is a perfect opportunity to get a foot in the door with Hummels. Hope we have lined up something useful like an option or first refusal, next year even if need be.

The Hernandez deal would be perfect cover to make inroads with Madrid for a centre back or def mid.

With all our departures we must be saving millions each month in wages

8.) 31 Aug 2014
It would be good if we loaned Real Hernandez and they loaned or sold us Khedira but who knows what our aims are

9.) 31 Aug 2014
Isn't khedira on his final yr? Would be awesome to involve him though if nothing comes of Vidal or Carvalho.

RedIsotope - First refusals are worth very little if the club don't want to sell of the player favours a move elsewhere.

If Dortmund did decide to sell Hummels there'd be nothing stopping us matching any accepted bids with or without first refusal. Of course - Dortmund wouldn't be obliged to accept our bid - but they would (when was the last time you remember a club accepting an offer from one club and refusing an identical offer from another unless the second club was a domestic rival?).
