I see we've been linked to Cresswell in the morning tabloids. Would be decent cover imo but £15m quoted might be a bit steep. He's had a good start to season. What do others think?

Aj21, he picked up all of their POTY awards last season.

Also, I do not think we need to sign an LB. We just need to sign a good CB and then let Rojo/Blind cover both LB and LCB until Shaw is back.

Surely not. Can't buy till January and then only 5 months of season left. There is cover. Rojo blind Jones young though not necessarily in that order

I agree Mumbai that CB is def the priority. I'd be happy with Rojo there, or Blind with Rojo in at LCB. I don't think we should look at buying anyone that wouldn't be fighting for 1st XI. As others have said even Darmian has played at LB before so we can cover. Probably just tabloids looking to sell more players with no substance to story

Id rather have Ashley Cole on a short term deal than waste 15 million on someone who will just end up a rotation option once Shaw is back.

If we're going to spend in January then buy a cb.

I agree with Mort. That PSV LB looked decent.

{Ed002's Note - Jetro Willems was of long-term interest to Manchester United but they opted for Shaw. Now he is looking looking to move and stalling on a new contract, Willems will be considering offers once he has proved his fitness.}

He has not missed a single game for West Ham since he joined, really quite impressive.

I'd have him here, better than playing Blind or Rojo at left back and we don't have a 'proper' second choice.

Why would he sign for us knowing that shaw will be first choice when he gets back? It would be absolute career suicide.

No matter who plays I think they would be a downgrade on Shaw, his form before the injury was superb. You know a player was in good form when he even looks good during those 20 min slumps where the play slows down and Shaw would always be there to make a penetrating run and get us going again.

In all honesty I'm extremely disappointed for him and hopefully he can re-capture his form. All of my friends who are fans of other teams all saying how good he is going to be, such a sorry turn of events for the young guy.
