With the likes of Rashford, Martial and the youth that is coming through, I'm really liking the look of the likes of Reece Oxford and Dele Alli to be brought to the club for continuity of British talent being in our team?

Thoughts guys?

Haven't seen enough of Oxford, but massive fan of Alli. We have more pressing areas of the squad to develop now than attacking central midfield imo. Alli would probably cost £60m+ and we have just signed Miki and Pogba.

We need experience at the back, but if we shift on Jones and Rojo I can see Oxford/ Verane being viable.

I was thinking something similar tbh.

Alli next summer to replace Rooney.

Oxford as a "supplementry" signing.

If Oxford was so amazing he would walk in to the West Ham side. The fact he has played about a dozen matches suggests he is not anywhere near ready to move or be good enough. Another case of jump all over the bandwagon for a young English player, as with Ali. Leave them to develop and see what happens.

Eric79, he only turned 17 before the new yr. Now I'm not too sure how many 16 yr olds get more than a dozen games in the 1st team of a premier league team? That in itself is impressive and I remember last season 1st game against Arsenal how good he was, displaying a MOTM performance. Obviously he has a lot of developing to do, but I think in yrs to come he'll be better than Stones!
I do think United + Citeh have genuine interest in him.
Would be the Rio replacement we've all been waiting for, quite fitting there similarities not just that they both started in the West Ham reserves. We have Lingaard who seems to be turning into a real attacking threat who I think will take on the 10 role left by Wazza and if not maybe Pogba will be played there. No way will Spurs let Alli go and I don't think he'll want to come either!

{Ed001's Note - Oxford is top class and that is why he has an offer sat there on the table from Man City if he chooses to take it.}

Yh Oxford is a real talent and West Ham an Slaven are doing a brilliant job developing him in the 1st at such a young age. I'm really not surprised Ed, he is a type of player Guardiola could turn into a dominant machine. Why I like him, even tho he has abundance of pace, he has the inteligence to hold back and position!

I was watching a interview he did with copa90 I think and he mentioned how he went take the ball off Ozil and the speed and technique of Ozils turn, he realised to himself "nah he's sick, I don't want none of that" and left him to it 😂 from then on for the whole game he had to sit back and stand on position, and still displayed a MOTM performance. West Ham fans will tell the tale of when 16 yo Oxford started his first game by having Mesut in his back pocket 😂😂.

{Ed001's Note - that's what I like about him, his intelligence on the pitch. Learning quickly how to deal with players like Ozil is a huge thing, most players never figure it out. Most would have ended up getting sent off for lunging in rashly.}

Yes ed, and that's why I see the similarities between him and Rio. But the difference is, Rio didn't pick that part of his game up until a bit further down in his career, where as this 16 yo (now 17) is already blessed with such an ability!

{Ed001's Note - I don't really see any similarities with Rio personally, Rio was never the brightest, he was very calm, but not the most intelligent of people. Don't get me wrong, I really rated Rio as a player, but he never really learnt who to get in the face of and who to back away from, he was just laidback and calm and always held off to wait for them to come to him. He had quick feet, which enabled him to put his foot in when they came at him, in almost all cases, so he was using his strengths to great effect. It is just that he never adjusted to also work on his opponent's weaknesses.}

The similarities would be there pace and power. To shrug people off the ball with ease and calmness. The way the conduct themselves, there both relaxed and calm ed lool, I've not seen a game where Oxfords looked nervous tbh. And yes ed I agree with you to some degree on that but what made Rio pretty smart for me compared to other CBs at that time an specially for his age was his passing range! Also ed, I'd say Rios biggest strength in the end was his ability to hold back and keep his position, yes you could say that's because he had Vidic sweeping everything up around him, but it's because of that he was so good for us. He developed that part of his game at United, where as Oxford is already blessed with it.
That's what Rio was good at in the end, reading the game and commanding his defence!

{Ed001's Note - his passing, Rio's I mean, was excellent.}

Another English talent just waiting to be shot down like all the others.

Those were along mine lines of thinking!

Rid of Rooney, Alli in!
