Based on the performances of the current centre half pairing and the backup options we have, we should probably hold out till the summer.

Glad J and R hit form, with additional backup; however, Jones could be hit by injury again, Rojo still unproved over linger period of time, Bailey off to Africa Cup, Smalling not quite the quality we need and Blind is better at LB.

I'd get a proven premier league performer/ organiser in to help solidify the defence (and support development of younger lads) until a younger world class CB available in the summer. Lindelof would take time to settle in and develop - we need a readymade PL defender.

Jose Fonte anyone?!

I seen that Fonte was on the bench yesterday for Southampton. Wouldn't read into that though.

Think bringing in a CB in January would be good for his settling in period for the rest of the season then he'll be ready for next season from the off.

Why would Benfica sell him in January, it'd bad business to sell him then as you will need to find a replacement and hope he can adapt in a short space of time, best we can hope is making a deal now to take him in the summer

Only players out of favour at their clubs in big Europe Leagues move in January

Realistically if we getting a defender in January it's going to be Fonte.

I think Lindelof and Fonte will come in January. There's also rumours of us trying to strike a double deal with Benfica and if true (unlikely) he would be joining in the summer window.

Rumors getting stronger for Lindelof I'm very surprised Benfica are going to sell him for Â£38 million, thought they would demand more and try create a bidding war for him, guess they need the money.

Hope we get him. Not that familiar with hi as a player but so far Jose's signings have been bang on.
