Well having watched that performance it was quite upsetting to watch Rooney. He doesn't look like he can move freely anymore, he's missing about 5 yards of pace. The Wayne Rooney off old gets a hat trick today. It is a real shame because my goodness what a player he was and I feel that we have to remember him for the player he was and not the player of the last 18 months or so.

He's got the record which is an incredible achievement and whether you like him or not that has to be respected. Hopefully he moves on this summer and enjoys his last couple of years.

What a player he was and I hope he enjoys his retirement. On his day one of the best I ever watched and he provided so many amazing memories.
Caolan.

Agreed caolan, rooney in his pomp was something else to watch.

But today he is not even a shadow of his former self. He looks so out of it playing at this level. I saw players yesterday that were forced to play a certain way which was highly frustrating but in rooney I saw a diminished player. This has been going on for 4 years now. I think the time is right to say goodbye.

For me Angel I am finding it very hard to watch. After all I'm only 20 and Rooney was the first player I would say I looked up to. The memories I have of him are incredible, big goals in big games. Pace, power and just an incredible appetite. It's only these last few years which have made gain even more respect for Scholes and Giggs as they managed to keep doing it at that incredibly high level for quite a bit longer. Rooney was my first inspiration as a player and I hate the criticism because at time he's carried us on his back. It's time to say goodbye not just for us because we need new players, but also so he can be considered the legend he is.
