On talk sport, Jim White is saying Rooney is off to Everton. I think he would do well there especially as he will be really motivated for his boyhood club. I can see Everton being a real force this season. Would you guys be happy if we got Ross Barclay as part of the deal.

Everton a real force hahaha.

Not in anyway. Ross Barkley is bang average, always has been. Why would we want him? Where would he play?

I don't want anything coming back the other way in this one. Barkley is only rated as he is English - his talent will be wasted. He should be up there with Alli in performance levels.

Don't know how true but I was told Rooney was lined up for a coaching role at Everton next summer.

I'd let rooney leave for free, we had the best Rooney years a while back so let him go and end his PL career with Everton. Oh and no I wouldn't want Barkley either.

I thought Everton were making decent steps last season. Signings so far been ok. I wouldn't write them off.

If Lukaku was part of the deal then how would you feel?

Everton have a good manager and made some astute signings. They will push for a top 4 spot this season i suspect but i'd imagine they will come up short.
As for rooney going back there. It would be nice for him to play out his career for the team and club he loves. He has had a great career at united ultimately 3 years too long probably but he will leave with the thanks of all supporters ringing in his ears i'd say. i'm sure when he conned back to OT he will get a great reception from the fans who will look back and ignore the last few years and remember the good times.

Would thank Rooney for his service and let him go for free to everton. Big wages off the books, but wouldn't want Barkley everton fans don't want him .

I'd definitely let him go for free, it's the sensible business decision. Nobody is going to pay for him and I don't even know what value he has as a footballer, it's commercially where a buying lcub would see the benefits. Big wage bill off the books too.

He should and will go down as a legend.

The only reason I can't see him going to Everton (other than wages) is because I really don't see how he will get in their team.

I would straight swap rooney and or fellaini for barkley. Putting aside how good you think barkley is it would make finacial sense. In this market you could sell barkley on for at least 30m next year.

I agree with most that barkley has been overrated in the past but he isn't average. He contributed to 13 league goals last season that's more than most of our squad members managed.

Hi all,
Thanks to the Eds as always.
Got a good old fashioned friend of a friend rumour for you.
My brother in law, his girlfriend's dad is an Everton fan and he has said today the Lu Lu Lukaku is heading to United. Can't say I believe it but as I've said before I'd be happy if that came off.

I can see lukaku coming tbh. I personally think he would be a brilliant signing for us. Good old fashioned striker who has consistently scored goals in teams that aren't challenging for the league. i'm not saying everton are bad side but if he can get the goals there surely with a bit of a step up he's going to score more.

I like Barkley, not sure he is good enough for CL level. Had the potential, but not kicked on, so I'd give him a swerve.

In terms of Rooney - my prediction is he will start off well for 3-4 games, then by Xmas he will phased out of the team when they realise he is not mobile/ capable enough for the way they play. If we can get away with not paying any of his wages then it's a phenomenal way to get out of jail. I'd let him go for free of course, in fact I'd let him go if they offered to send us Gibson, Phil Neville and Tim Howard as part of the deal, lol.
