It was a crappy performance and tough to watch game.

I don't know if the players were tired or the bus was parked or if klopp reminds our players of 'It' the clown, but liverpool gave a good account of themselves.

Our passing and pretty much everything else was off base apart from the defending.

After the game finished, i was abolutely mad but in the end sanity prevailed and realized that some key players were injured and its a point we are coming back with from anne-field and that's not the end of the world or the season.

They can play badly or they can play very excellently, i am just helplessly and hopelessly a fan of these annoying jerks and i can't not support them. So show us all hows its done in mid week Man Utd.

a lot of top teams will come away with zero points at anfield imo.

Poorer sides than ours have already taken 3 points at Anfield. It was a cowardice game-plan that yields very few points. Jose really needs to rethink this style.

R u sure I thought the scouse ware unbeating at home this season . only conceded 1 in the epl at home .
I might be wrong.

You're right jred. They've been very hard to beat at home.

I was just extremely disappointed in the performance, but this is what Jose would have been happy with, the point at anfield. He will be assessing every single game, every single point and that was a good point. Just from a fan's perspective, a bad game.

Jose will have the whole picture in mind whereas we, as fans, looking for entertaining football don't have that overall picture.

I'm not only talking about the last six weeks, I'm talking about this Liverpool side at Anfield. Poorer sides than us went to Anfield and gave them a game. This is exactly why Bobby Charlton didn't want him as manager and why he was overlooked by SAF. This is not the Manchester United way. It's embarrassing and quite frankly pointless, it's better to defend tight, but not starve the attack than to have ten players defending and managing minimal attempts. You'd expect this from a struggling 2nd Division side in a cup game, not Manchester United going to a rival. It's embarrassing and IMO pointless as we will lose many points doing this,

angelred, I think Carragher got it spot on with what he said yesterday. Last ten games Jose has done this and he's managed ONE GOAL! One goal in TEN GAMES.

Listen I am all for playing the defensive counter attacking game, but Jose takes it to the extreme. This Liverpool side is beatable. We were favourites before, even Jred himself fancied a win.

Problem is we managed 6 touches in their area all game. You cannot expect two forwards to take on 6-7 Liverpool players. The team was way too defensive. This will cost us the title playing like we are three divisions lower.

I'm pro Jose all the way, I do not want him to leave, but this side of his game he can improve on. Personally I think it's more about his own ego than the team. His personal records. We are Manchester United, we do not play that way. Not to that extreme. Not when it wasn't necessary, we have the players to score plenty of goals. Even LvG went there and gave them one helluva game guys. Defensive yes, but not to that extreme.

8 games 6 wins 2 goals conceded 21 scored .
21 scored in 8 games .
2 games 2 wins 1 conceded 7 scored .

I think your over reacting to 1 game this season .
I fancied us to be beat the scouse but I wasn't surprised with how we set up or the game .
Liverpool United games are often over hyped and poor quality.
Form goes out the window.

{Ed007's Note - Sorry to butt in, Jred, but can I draw you guys attention to our annual charity drive which started yesterday and is pinned at the top of the pages and linked HERE.
It was an idea I had for the Celtic pages only but Ed001 and Ed033 amazingly adopted it as their cross sites annual charity. It will run until December 11th so there's no rush - or pressure on anyone - to donate.
Thanks guys.}

I am reacting to one game Jred. I'm only talking about how he chose to set up against Liverpool. This season and last season. It was cowardly and not the Manchester United way, we were not severe underdogs. We were favourites. I don't think he needed to adopt this style this time round, I think he got it wrong, but was lucky Liverpool have struggled to hit the net lately.

Ed007, I'll take a look mate.

{Ed007's Note - Cheers, Syd (yes)

Bit of a change of discussion, but when Rojo returns do people think we may go with three at the back? I mean with Ibra returning and us looking at bringing in Rose, a 352 could be a position we look at. Not sure I'd want it, but think Jose may look at it.

Syd, I agree with pretty much all u said and what u usually say and I'm equally miffed that jose had the team play that way but I can't help but think it had to do with missing one or two key players and/ or tired legs from international games.

But like u, I'm a Jose fan and I hope that this performance was an anomaly and evidence of it shall be on display in Portugal tomorrow.

17 Oct 2017 19:16:36
I just hope that when we complete the team he wants this summer, then he has the courage to go to these away games and give them a game. Otherwise why is he building these teams if he doesn't have faith in them?

{Ed025's Note - im with you sydney, the guy is an egotistical maniac for me and he will be pleased with saturday because he got a point at anfield which in his eyes adds to his CV, the fact that you played rotten and without purpose means nothing to this guy its all about him never mind the club, united have a reputation of being a great side to watch as well as a winning mentality and that is the basis of why they have been so successful over the years, its also why other supporters begrudgingly admire united because there has always been the entertainment value with players like best, charlton and in more recent times cole, scholes, yorke, becks and the likes, he will kill your club mate you mark my words, will you win games and trophies? yes he will give you that but at what cost?...every supporter likes winning that goes without saying but for me playing with style, passion and belief that you can go to any ground in the world and win is just if not more important, it may sound that i am having a go at jose here...you bet your god damn cotton socks i am mate..

14.) 17 Oct 2017
17 Oct 2017 20:00:24
Ed025, I was against Jose taking over from SAF for this very reason, however United died after SAF and have been dead since. Jose really had nothing to lose when he took over. Backed with millions it could only really go one way. I was all for the Jose appointment after LvG, but only because we had nothing to lose. We were already dead.

{Ed025's Note - pochettino or klopp would suit united down to the ground for me sydney, they both play a brand of football that is effective and entertaining mate..

15.) 17 Oct 2017
17 Oct 2017 20:17:53
I liked Klopp, but he has no plan B. He also had Zorc behind him bringing him in some very good players. I think Poch is a good manager, but I'd keep hold of Jose for a couple years then look for someone young and ambitious who will already have a great group of players that basically pick themselves.

{Ed025's Note - fair enough mate..

Fergy has gone we now have Jose and this is what he does .
Don't give it the " I'm a fan of Jose I support Jose " and then whine he does something Jose.

Truth is we have been fantastic this season with 1 bad game against the scouse . Which tends to happen truth they are rarely great games .

If lukaku takes his chance it's a different game if the scouse scored one it's a different game .
In fact in Miki or lukaku or Miki had of played well it would of looked a different game .
Buts that its and buts people need to move one 1 game in a fantastic start to the season.

I've heard good things about the Watford manager and Clement. I think we need to get the confidence back fully, then build a great squad, then whoever takes over will be in a much better position than Moyes was in when SAF stepped down.

20.) 17 Oct 2017
17 Oct 2017 21:05:25
LOL jred, are you saying I cannot support the manager and criticise him? Is this a dictatorship? Are you North Korean? No manager is perfect, SAF was far from perfect. If I want to have my opinion on something MU on a MU site, then I will. This is a relevant subject as most of the media have been discussing it.

We aren't talking about how poor MU were, yes we were dire, but we are talking about the negative game plan our manager implemented. And was it really necessary?

I don't think he was looking forward to the backlash from that game. His face said it all. He bottled it and he knew unless he sneaked a goal he would face a hard time.

21.) 17 Oct 2017
17 Oct 2017 21:30:49
Not in the least bit but that's what Jose does it's like complaining that fellaini heads the ball .
If you don't want Jose as manager fine, but don't say you do want him and then complain about him doing exactly what he does .
Put out a solid team, away from home against your biggest rival with key players missing . It's what he does

We drew a game get over it we didn't win a game stop sulking .
It's one game where we didn't play well.

We never set up like we did last season with a back 6 .
We set up solid against a good attacking team .
But our attacking players had poor games .
If lukaku Miki martial play well it looks a different plan, they never they had stinkers

32 goals we have scored in 11 games this season .
First 00, first time our attackers have a stinker dummies are out .

22.) 17 Oct 2017
17 Oct 2017 21:51:09
Again Jred, it's nothing to do with performance. We are discussing the manager's game-plan. You think this is the first poor performance this season? We aren't talking about Lukaku, Martial or Miki having an off day, we are talking about the ten men parked inside our penalty area for all the game leaving Lukaku on the halfway line with three defenders and a midfielder marking him. I think it was completely unnecessary to defend to that extent, as do most of the pundits. Liverpool are not Real Madrid. Even Spurs had a go in Madrid tonight.

So just to recap, nothing to do with the dire performance, we are discussing the manager's negative approach to the game and was it really necessary? Defend and Counter yes, but did we need to be so negative? Anyway.

23.) 17 Oct 2017
17 Oct 2017 22:04:19
He set up solid and to hit them on the break, like a lot of people suggested.
It never work, after 32 goals in the previous 10 games the front line had a mare .
But it was no where near as negative as last season .
Jose kept a solid line up against a good attacking team .
The dire performance has as much to do with the players poor performance as it does the managers .
And the same goes for the previous 10 games .

24.) 18 Oct 2017
18 Oct 2017 16:49:37
Whilst Mourinho's set up was undoubtedly to ensure that the team left Anfield without conceding, I was surprised at how little bite Liverpool actually had. Other than the De Gea save (and subsequent follow up by Salah) and the Can effort, I can't see recall too many chances. As the home team and one of the leagues most attacking managers and teams, the tactics to replace the front 3 and keep Henderson, Can and Winjaldum in place was strange. In that sense I think Klopp accepted the draw also.

25.) 19 Oct 2017
19 Oct 2017 12:05:32
I think we set up knowing you'd be defensive and very good in the air so klopp didn't want to be caught by a corner last minute, we had a load of chances we just couldn't finish, the game was played in your half. An open game would have suited us better and with your recent form compared to ours, we could have been there for the taking. You actually trying to hammer us, as I believed you were capable, would have meant are more open game which would have suited us too, so we could have had a big scoring game, instead Jose sat 11 men in his own half. You were more than capable fo getting a win but didn't even try. For the neutrals out there an early Liverpool goal would have made the game better to watch because Jose would have had to come out of his own half. If I were a United fan I would have been disappointed with the game because it was a feable attempt by united but you got a point after all which any other time would seem a good point.
