Jose could live in the back of a camper van for all I care. I work with these type of guys, they have their reasons for the things they do and are prompted by their advisors.

Be happy he has signed on for a further period. He's doing a cracking job and is exactly the type we need right now. Takes no prisoners and is only satisfied with victories. The transfer activity isn't too shabby either.

Only a extra 12 month, it's not a huge amount.

An extra year with the option of another year after that. It's not a huge extension, but considering Jose's history it's a good sign.

It's more the statement of the thing - commitment.

Agree 12days. It removes the uncertainty surrounding Jose that has plagued Chelsea this season with Conte. The will he won’t he stay at Chelsea has seeped down to the players at Chelsea and the uncertainty has wrecked their title defence. It is a small extension but a statement that he is up for the challenge. Moreover, he would not have signed if he did not think he had the backing and the resources to compete with city.

It’s a clear sign of intention. Whose to say the owners don’t want to put a manager on another 6 year deal, as they did with Moyes? Settlements are expensive and if there are any fall outs it’s an easier parting.

I think signing him on a short extension, with a further option, is a great coup for the club.
Also kind of tells me Jose is up for the challenge of performance-related reward.
