Ed any truth United are looking at mawson.

{Ed002's Note - I don’t know but would think he would be well down the list of CBs the club is known to be looking at, but he has an advantage of being English. There is interest from elsewhere in the PL.}

Along with our other English centre backs jones and smalling?
Im never sure with some cb's sometimes they can look good because they are so busy at the likes of swansea and because he is their best defender. Over the past couple of seasons he has stood out for them so i can see why any epl side wiuld be looking at him but could he make such a big leap. Many have before him. To be honest i think its the sort of transfer that every fan likes to see succeed.

Mawson is a far better player than Maguire. Although neither are good enough for us.

I don't rate maguire at all shappy. It would be a huge step up for mawson but i think he is the Better of those two.

Agree shappy and ken maguire’s positioning is atrocious and I’m not sure why he gets so many plaudits. Perhaps because he carries the ball out of defence but that’s where the problems lie for me. He often loses it.

Not a fan of Mawson if I’m honest. He’s decent but not good enough for us. I find it misleading buying cbs from teams that sit back as it’s easy to camp 11 men behind the ball and be structured and disciplined. The test is when you move to one of the big boys and you have to play 10 yards further forward without 2 defensive midfielders protecting you. That’s why players like Lovren have struggled. Also, we have the likes of tuanzebe coming through who has the potential to be a very good player so wouldn’t be going anywhere near the likes of Mawson or Maguire.

If we do need a cb we need a top quality one whose better than we have got to partner bailly. It would have to be of the ilk of Umtiti, Alderweireld or varane. But tbh I would like to see lindelof to have a run in the team as I think he has the attributes to be a good cb. Otherwise my choice to partner bailly would be Rojo but he is not very good at playing out of the back. Cb is the least of our worries for me.

It may just be me but I quite like Maguire . The way he breaks from the back and breaks play up. "Like a young Steve Bruce"😆😆.

{Ed001's Note - without the defensive ability or reading of the game of Bruce. In fact the only similarity between the two I can think of is that they both have a face only a mother can love....}

Good mate if my incidentally is Spurs fan and they have all well and truly turned on Danny Rose down there.
