Apologies if you have given your opinion before Ed002, but with your vast footballing brain I was wondering if you'd give your thoughts on what United need on the pitch for next season.

Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - (a) Suitable younger players to address those leaving:
David De Gea (G) wants out - but the club may block it
Antonio Valencia (RB)
Matteo Darmian (RB/LB)
Marcos Rojo (LB/CB) not wanted
Ander Herrera (CM) wants more game time but club wants him to stay - will go to PSG
Paul Pogba (CM) wants out - but the club may block it
Juan Mata (RM/RW)
Alexis Sanchez (LW/F) there is no clear route to end the relationship

The club are looking at some fairly high-end and expensive players and will look to some of the emerging players at the club as well. The problem will be others looking at the same players and with several high-profile and well positioned (financially) sides looking at major rework, it will be even more difficult than usual. The club are likely to need a RB (e.g. Aaron Wan-Bissaka), CB (e.g. Milenkovic), CM (e.g. Rodrigo Hernandez), CM/AM (e.g Bruno Fernandes), RW/F (e.g. Douglas Costa) plus possibly a GK.}

Ed would the club be open to a termination if there's no route out or would it be more likely pay most of his wage if they can find a interested party?

{Ed002's Note - No, that is not an option.}

Fantastic Ed thank you.

Are the names you mentioned the most likely targets for each position?

{Ed002's Note - They are examples of players the club are interested in.}

Looks like it could be a tough summer for the club with our two best players wanting out and the club finding it difficult to get rid of sanchez.

Couple that with bayern, real and Barcelona all looking to rebuild we very much could be picking from their leftovers.

I am sure all the posters on this site will take it in their stride and not go overboard lol.

Ed don't worry about the Felix question. i just ch3cked on the european pages that he is most likely heading to Juve or Madrid and our interest is in Fernandes.

Ed, Do we still hold interest in Felix or is he more likely to be heading towards Juve or another club?

{Ed002's Note - Yes there is an interest in him as an option but he is very expensive and there is serious interest from elsewhere.}

I'd let the lot go. De Gea and Pogba have been as bad as they've been good this season.

I'm just not convinced the players we are targeting are good enough with exception of Wan Bissaka.

And based on the recent signings I have little confidence they will make the correct decisions.

I would rather see us give the youth a chance and supplement with top draw EPL players plus Saul.

Ed who do you think would be the better option out of Felix or Fernandes as they both seem to be very expensive.

{Ed002's Note - I am not in a position to compare them.}

Felix is extremely talented for a kid but still raw. His comparison is Kaka

Fernandes is likened to Frank Lampard. I think he be more ready than Felix. If Pogba goes I think we will push really hard for him.

Personally I rather we go someone like Eriksen if we going to spend a large sum. I wouldn't mind James Maddison either but I don't think he be coming straight away and starting.

Think it time to buy within the league again. All teams in Europe are demanding large money for their players. I rather we went back to buying proven players in the Premier League. It also weaken the other teams doing this.

"The club are looking at some fairly high-end and expensive players and will look to some of the emerging players at the club as well"
- This has got me really excited.
I hope the sharkapod will be out this week.

de gea is the only player that i would be fuming about if we sold but players come and go. as long as we get decent money to re invest.

Herrera wants more game time yet has played loads. game time is earnt not demanded.

ed, do you know the reasons why dave wants out? be daft if we were to stop it, he can go for free next summer.

{Ed002's Note - The club won't give him what he wants to stay.}

Ed 002 thank you for the update hope you are well.
Of the 8 players you listed obviouslythe 3 out of contract will go on the summer unless they are renewed.
Is it possible or viable to shift them all in 1 window and replace them? Not withstanding the need it is a lot of churn.
Between 6 and 8 out would be my ideal but i didn't think it could happen that quickly. They wouldn't do it for the previous manager.
I suppose 4 or 5 new signings in complemented with a 2 or 3 youth promotions is possible a big ask in 1 window.

{Ed002's Note - As I said the club can block a couple from leaving - that leaves them with players who are unhappy at the club which is never good. Mata is getting older and wants playing time. It is not out of the question they will all go, but not all need replacing.}

Thanks ed002
A significant clearout would be good imo.
If players want out i'm a firm believer in letting them go, as long as we can identify and procure good replacements.
An unhappy player can cause a lot of damage to squad morale and unity.
As well as the humane perspective.

Some of those that are on that list barely play and contribute little when they do play so wouldn't really be missed. We can fill spaces for Valencia, rojo and Mata from the academy. Players like Herrera would need replacing.

I think a wholesale cleariut is needed to sort out the haphazard transfers of recent years and to reset the wage structures obviously skewed by Sanchez maybe worst decision in recent years

Bring in youngsters who have the tight mentality and build up again

Pogba De Gea etc can go if they are becoming mercenary about wages.

Maybe it's time to see how good are our young players on the fringe of the squad. I know you don't win anything with kids but they can't be worse than some of the bang average players we are hoping will move on.

3-4 top quality players and supplement the rest of the squad with youth. Garner, Chong, Gomes and greenwood were superb last night for the 23s. Those 4 deserve more minutes and I’d rather them play ahead of some of the experienced players we have here who are just picking up a very hefty pay packet.

Just promise me someone. That Ashley Young will be gone come the new season. You can not dilly dally on the ball against world class players like Barcelona have.
Felt sorry for Dave the save . He has saved us so many times. Want this season over with now .

It’s surprising, while in one aspect I am happy that the club won’t pay silly money for someone to stay they’ve been happy enough to pay silly money on players that have not deserved it, yet with the best Gk around they won’t break k the bank to keep him, baffling, is this a case of they won’t give him what he wants full stop Ed or with the wages issue at the club they just can’t? Would like to think we are moving away from silly wages despite how I’d like him to stay on.

{Ed002's Note - The club has to be financially responsible with the wages.}
