I have heard a rumour that the club are gearing up to start improvements to the South Stand next year. However, the same rumour is that the land around OT has been bought not by United or our present owners but by a Middle Eastern connection. That is all I have heard but this is a rumour site.

Very good AJH. Looking into the neighbours house and thinking everything is rosey isn't necessarily the case.

Wouldn't the ownership of the ground be public knowledge? There should be a way to check this up.

LovelyLudwigVan

It said land around the ground. If you know the area the railway is right behind the South stand, there is a station there but behind that are houses and a street. The ground is the clubs and some land around it but no idea which bits.

Yeah it's long been an issue, if I'm not mistaken Railway Rd is where they'd need to buy the houses, and they'd need to find a solution for the rail tracks. I just thought property owners, at least of non-residential buildings would be information available to the public. I remember reading that the costs to expand the stadium would be as much as building a new one, which will probably continue delaying any work.

Hi All,

on the South stand situation.

The land is owned by the railway as is the bridge/ walkway from Railway road into the stadium.

I have friends who live on Railway road and they have not been contacted by anyone with regards to selling up.

In fact Jay (the City Fan) lives on the right of the bridge some 4-7 doors down (not giving his address. lol)

His place would be one of the houses directly impacted by development.

He'd been previously advised regrading the improvements when they were first put up for public review. although the extension would encompass the actual railway the physical building would be bridged over to form a covered station/ platform. It wouldn't require any of the houses to be bought unless it is found to cause irreparable damage to the property through ground disturbance.

Sunlight and shade is said to be of concern however due to the angle of the road they would still get a lot of light in the rear gardens.

Monk.
