Is the Sancho transfer now resolved?

{Ed047's Note - yes he’ll be there on Friday

Is that confirmed for sure Ed or something you think is likely?

{Ed047's Note - it was tongue in cheek prodigal, who knows if he’s coming or not.

The latest according to Dortmund is no but that could be just trying to get you to pay his way over the top valuation as you seem so desperate again.

Could be worse Ed047, could be signing a past it 32yr old winger on huge wages on a 3yr deal deemed not good enough by his current club, coupled with wasting one of the worlds great midfielders by leaving him on the bench to collect his £350k wages, only to replace him with the likes of Xhaka😂😂😂. Topping it off by embarrassingly begging a striker to stay at the club who doesn't actually want to be there because you're THAT bad.

Talking of desperation, didn't you pay 3x over the odds for Lionel Messi? Sorry, i meant Nicholas Pepe🤣🤣🤣🤣.

{Ed047's Note - 🎣 I don’t half love you scholesy! 🤣🤣

He said that about dembele and he was sold.

{Ed001's Note - yes but Dembele did a midnight flit, literally just vanished over night, fleeing Germany, that precipitated his sale after they found a number of other issues he had left behind. Particularly the state of his apartment, which ended up in a court case for damages.}

At the end of the day, we know the price. If we match it he comes. My view is, if this is the managers number 1 target then we should get him, but I don’t make the decisions. It will be interesting to see what happens. I don’t think a certain date makes any difference to whether or not the player will be sold before the window closes.

I expect a deal can still be done if we match their original asking price, but if Dortmund are smart they’ll flat out refuse to negotiate any further and just wait until EW gets desperate.

I feel a little sorry for EW as it’s a tough call as to how to approach this one and he’ll likely end up catching some flack for the way he handles this whatever he ends up doing. Part of me thinks he should have just paid the asking price straight away and got the deal done, but I also appreciate that it’s this kind of behavior in the past that’s lead to us getting bent over a barrel with every deal we make.

Ultimately though, I expect we’ll end up caving somewhere down the line and offering the full amount, but I wouldn’t be too surprised if Dortmund stick to their guns and keep him for another year (although I guess this might depend on whether or not Sancho pushes for a move) .

Caolan

We as fans always say back the manager, give him the player he wants if he is the managers first choice and all . But sometimes we should be sensible in our business ideas too. Maybe sometimes the managers first choice isn't the best option all things considered.

And if you need an example as to when it is a success when a managers doesn't get his preferred choice just look at Liverpool and Salah.

Sarah wasnt Klopp's first choice. Actually he was 4th choice I think. But the club saw him as the better overall option and convinced Klopp to sign him. And rest is history.
