Fabrizio Romano confirms a bid is imminent for Reguilon from United.
Player is training separately and Sevilla are out of the race.

{Ed002's Note - Sergio Reguilon (LWB) has been assessed on return from Sevilla (and keep in mind that Real Madrid need to raise significant sums through sales) and the decision is "we want him next year" but could let him go with a buy back option. As such, RM have yet to decide whether to let SR have another season on loan at Sevilla (which they would like) but with no option to buy (as they don't have the funds to buy him now) and the re-integrate him when Mendy's contract is up or whether to integrate him now and lose perhaps €25M of much needed revenue. There is also a push to integrate a couple of fine youngsters in to the Real Madrid first team squad. A change to Kia Joorabchian as his agent means the player is considering his options - but Kia's team Arsenal won't be interested unless they were to lose Kieran Tierney. Spurs are looking to sign a LB and have asked to be kept informed of progress but money is pretty tight and they are less attractive to other sides right now - but they could strike a deal which suits all parties. PSG have the LB issue to resolve and have also been asked to be kept informed but much will surround what happens with Bernat. Chelsea had Reguilon on their list of LB options and cannot sign their first choice - but they have a concern that he is so one footed it may affect his game in England as it will make him less versatile in a faster game and they have Chilwell - so they can be removed from the equation. He has been offered to Manchester United and thet will give the opportunity for the amateurs to give Williams a good kick in the gonads. Everton are apparently reported to have made an offer but clubs don't usually work that way and simply throw offers out there - Real Madrid know nothing of it, but they may have made an enquiry with Kia in case Lucas Digne were to move on. Inter and Juventus could join Napoli with interest from Italy - with Napoli looking to replace Faouzi Ghoulam but not keen on any weird buy-back clause.}

ED002,

What are your thoughts on Williams?
He certainly looks a player with a lot fo potential. But if Utd signed SR then I'd imagine he would perhaps seek a loan move away?

Are there any plans to sell Shaw?

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any intention to sell LS or loan BW.}

Cheers ed002. So for Madrid, they are happy to sell but want a buy back clause. But I'm sure United will not want that.

{Ed002's Note - That is what negotiation is for.}

Sure ed. Well hopefully it goes United's way, a very good player.

Thanks again for the info. While you are here ed002, has there been any more progress made with any other possible targets?

Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - Not since Pini left London last week as I explained. He is for now tied up trying to resolve another issue.}

Reguilon was voted La Liga's best left back.

He showed his attacking capabilities against us in the Europa semi.

We've never quite got the Luke Shaw we thought we were getting from Southampton. I thought he looked a decent option on the left side of a three man defence last season.

Williams hasn't blown me away but is young and homegrown so I can see the attachment but I'd love to see Reguilon come in, even if LB doesn't seem a priority.

{Ed047's Note - I’d say you could definitely do better there so if he’s an improvement, which looks likely then get him in and offload Shaw.

Is the issue Pini trying to solve regarding Alaba's contract situation ed02?
Maybe we can try and get him instead ;)

{Ed002's Note - Yes it is.}

I'd like to see Williams switched back to his natural RB position. There's enough games for him and AWB and the two are very different types of player. AWB is solid and his defensive mentality suits the bigger fixtures while BW is more adventurous so should get plenty of opportunities in home and cup games. He's still a baby so plenty of time for him.

If we bring in Reguilón again we have a very different type of LB to Shaw, who as mentioned above, seems comfortable on the left of a back 3.

I think we'd have a great balance in the full back positions if we signed him.

I like Dalot but he seems out of favour.

Deependra, I've said a few times recently that Alaba is who we should be looking at. Fantastic player.

Ed with Pini dealing with Alaba does that mean any reports of a deal for Telles being close are wide of the mark?

{Ed002's Note - No it doesn't exclude that.}

Many thanks Ed002. If Alaba is the issue, we should've tried to get him :)

The issue with Shaw is that on average over the past 6 years he is fit 55% of the time. When he has played he has been decent without being spectacular. He provides a good overlap option who is comfortable on the ball and good in defence.

He has also been excellent as a LCB when we have played with a back three.

I think Williams has done a great job considering last season. However, my gut says he would be far more comfortable and perform better if he played more on his more natural RB position.

AWB looked jaded towards the end of the season and I think he will need more rotation this season.

So signing a LB who is left footed and more adventurous would give us much more balance and cover.

Agree with that Shappy. I think Shaw benefits positionally by having a player either side of him.

He's all over the place at LB but seems steady at LCB.

I can't think of a better player we could target instead of Alaba. Dare I say it he would be a perfect player to sign for the defence.

But I don't realistically see him moving to us.

Wazza, I would say Shaw is a solid 7 out of 10 player. He does a good job without being a standout. He makes very few mistakes, but at the same time he doesn't often make game changing actions.

Whether at LB or at LCB he covers well, is good with the ball at his feet, tackles cleanly and is good in the air. Going forward he is quick, doesn't lose the ball, and offers a solid option on the overlap. Yet if there is a real criticism of his game it is that for a player who gets forward as often as he does he doesn't directly get involved in shot taking actions either through shooting himself or by playing the telling pass to create the shooting chance. A more creative and offensively threatening player might open up a new dimension to our attack and make us that bit more potent going forward.

I'd argue with AWB on the opposite flank, and with Rashford looking to play inside left rather than wide left that a great attacking LB would provide more balance and make more space for Rashford.

Earlier i was getting offended with repetitive use of Amature word, but finally, i will agree that this board is not only ameture but useless too.

Ed002 why don’t real sell Mendy now then?

If they aren’t going to renew and want Regiulon back next year to take his spot.

Would sound more logic to me to keep Reguilon and sell Mendy now before letting him leave on a free next season.

Or did I misunderstand?

{Ed002's Note - They don’t want to and there is no interest.}

I thought he had a contract til 2023 Ed002 but might be mistaken.

{Ed002's Note - It should have said Marcelo.}
