Rumours popping up of us looking at Oblak this summer, with De Gea potentially going back to Madrid.

Would be a great deal for us, but cannot imagine us not giving Deano a shot first.

We did give Deano a shot this year and he wasn’t great, he did ok but he isn’t at the level we require at the moment to win the league. I think as Ed14 said if we can go and buy the best why are we messing about with players who aren’t really good enough.

Oblak is generally considered the best keeper in the world at the moment. If that deal is possible I would snap your hand off, but I imagine it would be very difficult to do.

I'd love us to sign oblak not sure it's realistic but it would be a huge upgrade on our current choices.

I dread to think how many points goalkeepers have cost us in recent times. For me Romero should have been given more chances but there was too much going on behind the scenes between them all. On Oblak, it's clear to see the difference top GKs have made to City and Liverpool. They were shipping comical goals with Bravo and Karius.

Spenno -i would have had romero in the europa squad minimum and wouldve brought him on for pens!
His record when he got game time was quite impressive considering the people playing in front of him.

I said it at the time that it was a wrong desicion. No team has two numper 1 fighting for the spot.
Henderson caused us problems. Otherwise we would have De Gea numper 1, Romero numper two and Henderson on loan to see if he is good enough. Then this summer sell De Gea and either replace him with Henderson (if he proves his worth) or go and buy a world class keeper. In any case with Romero as numper 2.

{Ed0666's Note - De Gea has been crap for a while Henderson deserved his place on merit and now he’s crap I think plan C needs to be executed.

the major problem is wages for ddg- we gave him an obscene amount of money and there's not many who will be able to or want to pay it.
Saying that we could be looking at £40m value on hendo either sell or player exchange. Romero wages off the books as well as grant pereira but that leaves us bare unless we get say oblak or no.1 and an other backup say johnstone. Would tick a lot of boxes.

Plan C, we only do Plan A and even if it fails we continue with Plan A.

I can't remember Henderson being crap - not sure where that is coming from. Henderson is the number one and he will be next season.

Agree. For the most part, Hendo has done well when called upon. His distribution and command over his defense is streets ahead of De Gea too. I really don’t see the point in wasting money on another keeper when we still need a CB, CDM, RW and striker.

Not sure how its ever a waste of money improving on what you have. Oblak is a different class to both of them and you will get another 5-6 seasons out of him -recouping money from De Gea, Hendo or even both of them is good business in my book - and as neither of those would want to play 2nd choice behind Oblak you are really looking selling them both at a net spend of practically nothing and improving your defence and team overall. wheres the down side?

Oblak for De Gea swap looks mouthwatering. Don’t see Ole fancying Henderson as No.1 yet or possibly at all? With Donnaruma available on a free also surely a new GK is on the cards?

Whoever we pick GK will be one of Ole’s biggest decisions. But there’s so many of them isn’t there.

CB - Torres? Looks a deal that suits all parties. At least 3 CBs to go though.
CDM - Rice? Don’t see it.
RW - Sancho looks like the longest fligh ever from Dortmund to Manchester will finally land.
CF - should be in for Kane and Haaland. Wont be and just sit back and watch them improve City and Chelsea!

With Cavani extending, Kane and Haaland doesn't make sense.

We need to address the core problems first - CB, CDM and RW.
If budget stretches, then a backup RB.

14.) 29 May 2021

I think GK is the last of our priorities. Whoever stays in goal we have good options. Henderson deserves a season if the coaching staff think he can be good enough.

We should be all over the key transfers now and get them done - CB, DM and a forward as the very minimum and work on moving at least 6 players on: Andreas, Jones, Bailly, Pogba, James, one of the keepers. Also assuming Romero and Mata will not be signing new deals.

15.) 29 May 2021

I think all will depend on firstly our budget and secondly whether Olly will get the money from any sales. I am not positive he will but if they give him a budget of £150m (which is paper talk) then that could go a long way if we can add sales on.
I might be at odds with others but I genuinely believe we can improve us going forward by improving to the defensive positions.
The right CB, HM and if we could get Oblak in would all massively release the team to not need 2 HM and as also the FB to press forward more.
In this case I'm in on Oblak although I doubt we will do it.

TRD - Cavani won’t play 60 games. Probably half that. We need to bin the woeful Martial and bring in a quality CF.

17.) 29 May 2021
29 May 2021 18:47:55
Halesini, Kane's insane valuation would blow our budget in other key areas.
Greenwood is enough to cover for Cavani. Kane would block his path.

Torres seems like the obvious choice at CB and a deal seems very doable. The only other club I can see really pushing for him are Real, in which case we should be pushing for Varane seeing as how he is entering the last year of his contract.

I’m still not convinced on Rice, but I said the same think the year when we signed RVP instead of Lewandowski and was made to look very foolish in the years that followed. A cash plus Lingard deal could make it happen, I think.

Sancho seems like something of a certainty and I expect that’s where the bulk of our available funds will go this summer. If Spurs could be tempted by the likes of Martial and Hendo, I’d like to see us try for Kane, although would be very surprised if he doesn’t end up at City. From his point of view, it’s surely the better move by some margin.

30 May 2021 21:41:28
So you think Torres, Rice, Sancho and Kane lol
I can assure you the net spend will not exceed £100 million.

I think we will go not be any worse if one of de gea and henderson stayed.
Both have their own qualities.
We however very harsh on Romero, I'm not sure what happened with him, but he was definitely a good shout for gk rotation. I don't think he had a bad game.
Although Heaton as second choice is very decent backup.
