Given that Barcelona want David Luiz, we want Cesc and Chelsea want Rooney - do you guys think it would be good business for all three clubs if the players moved clubs for the same fees (ie, each club got the player they want without any financial outlay)? Apparently Chelski are asking for £40m for Luiz, willing to pay £37m for Rooney and we are looking at a third bid of between £35m-£40m for Cesc.

Personally I'd rather see Rooney stay; but at the same time think that Cesc is the best available midfielder by some distance and would rather we signed him than settle for somebody else. If losing Rooney is the only means by which we can sign Cesc I'd probably go for it - as our midfield has to take priority at this moment.

Couldn't agree more redseven.

To loose rooney we would need to replace him with a striker not fabregas

I think Rooney will stay. Nani is staying. I have a feeling that DM wants to keep most of the squad of last year.

Boarshawred, why exactly? We have RvP, Hernandez & Welbeck to play as leading strikers. If we signed Cesc we would have Kagawa & Cesc who could play in the hole. Why must we buy a striker? I think Cesc is needed far more than Rooney is needed.

Boarshawred -

I see Moyes playing with one up top (Rooney's best position) and believe that whilst there's very little between Rooney and RVP - based on recent form RVP has to be favourite for that spot. Rooney can also play in the hole - but we have Kagawa who can play there and I think he deserves a run in the first team to show what he can do.

I agree that we'd probably need to replace Rooney as I don't think Welbeck or Chico are good enough to be backup for RVP (we'd be in trouble if he got injured and they were all we had to step in) - but our midfield is that weak at the moment that something needs to be done urgently.

I would rather we had a top midfielder in Fabregas playing every week than Rooney playing sporadically and pushing Kagawa and RVP out of position for the sake of giving him game time. Of course I would ultimately rather play a 4-1-2-1-2 diamond or 4-2-3-1 to accommodate Rooney, RVP, Kagawa and Fabregas - but I don't see that happening.

Totally agree redseven

Welbeck scores 2 goals in a season and you say he's a striker.

Most defenders will better that

You don't improve and build a team by letting a player go and signing one
Chelsea will be a better team with Rooney an luiz in it
Other wise it's one step forward one step back

Kagawa really needs to play in his best position this year, behind RVP will do me. Not on the left. I understand SAF liked a squad with players who can play in different positions but he really needs to play where he is best. If Kagawa kicks on this year it will be like a new signing. He was incredible for Dortmund in that position.

I really hope you are right SHRIMP. I haven't seen much of him in Dortmund so all I know is his last season's play which was alright, but wasn't 17m worth.

I personally think he outshone Gotze at Dortmund. Kagawa needs confidence and time to create an understanding with the team. He really does seem like a player who can read what his team mates are doing and act accordingly. We need him creating, not tracking back and covering. Put him in the hole behind RVP and let him create. I don't think we would be disappointed at all. He can play short, little passes or defense cutting through balls. He can score and dribble. Not sure if you can tell but I really like him!

Thats awful from a chelsea fans point of view.
Luiz is top quality and under mourinho will develop into one of the best in the world.
