YES - he is a game changer, fantastic with the ball and will lay on so many chances for Rooney and RVP. Just watch the Super Cup from Tuesday night - he came on and RM looked so much more of a threat and far more direct.

Di Maria is a brilliant player without a shadow of doubt but why are we signing a left footed players to play RWB/RW.

Surely Luke Shaw will be playing the LWB in most of the games so Di Maria definitely isn't playing as LWB.

In the formation LvG plans to play there is no place for a left winger as such so he can't play that role.

For a left footed attacking winger we already have Adnan Januzaj and he is pretty good.

So we are basically signing a 50 million pound left-footed RWB (coz with the formation we plan to play in majority of the games there wouldn't be an out and out winger on both the flanks)?

Its a no brainer, I don't care if we pay 80 mil, he's a world class winger and the best one out there whos available, we should be breaking the bank to get a player of this calibre, he will put the fear of good into teams and bring a bit of fear factor back to old trafford.

Yes, with out a shadow of a doubt. We sorely need pace in our team as our build up play is too slow allowing teams to get all their men back behind the ball making it difficult for us to break down.

No, Personally I think if Di Maria is signed it will hint towards LVG eventual use of the 4-3-3 formation with Di Maria playing wide right up top.

I don't think this is a solution as we don't have the necessary players to play this formation well enough to get to where we need to be. Yes we will have a top quality player but the rest of the pieces of the puzzle will be missing. In a 4-3-3 formation we would still need another midfielder and another player to play up top. But this formation will also mean that other players will lose out, one of Rooney or RVP

Within our current formation Di Maria wouldn't fit. He is not a RWB or a striker. If we did buy him where would he play? would he play in the middle behind two strikers or would he play as one of those two strikers. Also If we have 50 Million available why not put in a bid for Vidal? It doesn't make sense to me. Yes he would improve our team if the team formation was altered to suit him but in our current state he is not what we need.

MB,

Di Maria can play a variety of positions and in different formations. If we moved to a 4-4-2 like we played in the 2nd half on Saturday, imagine Di Maria and Januzaj feeding van Persie and Rooney.

He could play as a free moving number ten

We have the money so of course we should, apart from Ronaldo he has been their stand out performer, and Mumbai boy, we only played 3-4-1-2 with wing backs because the limitations of the squad, I'm sure we will go for some sort of 4-3-3 and who wouldn't be scared of a front three of Rooney rvp and di maria.
Also he has played very well for Madrid in central midfield numerous occasions last season

RedAndy94 I have started off my comment saying how brilliant Di Maria is.

But I agree with JaMax. we won't be able to accommodate him without changing our formation.

If we go for a 4-3-3 or a 4-4-2 then obviously he can play as a winger on either side but in a 3-5-2 I can't see him.

YESSSSSSSSS - We all know how good he is as a winger. But towards the end of last season he played central midfield in a bank of 3. He was absolutely amazing! Maybe we will see him deployed there? To be honest he could play number 10, winger or centre mid. Would be SUCH a good signing. Was Real's best player last season.

11.) 21 Aug 2014
MB, Di Maria will not be fixed to the RWB position. When the ref blows the whistle for kick-off he will be there and will play most of the game down that right side, but LvG will use him in the hole, on the left and as a striker during the game. He would be an excellent signing.

No i'd rather tighten the defence first and put that money towards benatia and cuadradro.

13.) 21 Aug 2014
If we can sign a top cm I could see us playing 442 or 4411 with di maria although if up to me I would drop rooney and play mata and rvp up top as long as rvp is fit and firing again

14.) 21 Aug 2014
See what I mean about split opinion. I think we should break the bank for him. LVG loves the 50 yard balls and imagine the pace of Di Maria on the end of them. Potential to be a lethal weapon. We currently have no pace in final third. He would offer a different option and a bit of flair which we badly badly need.

15.) 21 Aug 2014
I'd sign him - but not for £50m and only after we'd signed a top CM and a top CB.
