I think if RvP is fit and does not need an operation, it will be him and Falcao upfront with Rooney just behind. Di Maria LCM, Herrera RCM.

But I think the operation story is true and if he needs it, then we will see Falcao and Rooney upfront with Mata in the hole. Di Maria LCM, Herrera RCM.

Do you not think Blind will be playing CM if the deal is concluded? Or will he play as a Cb stepping up into Cdm position with the ball?

Yeah Di Maria playing RCM is a great option with Herrera but we haven't got a commanding CB do I thought Blind may come into play RCM so we don't get absolutely destroyed on the counter attack every time.

I'd like to see Di Maria given a go at right wing back. It's criminal that we're not going to be playing him as an out and winger as that's his best position - but he surely can't be any worse than Valencia defensively and will add some much needed pace and quality to the wide areas.

I can't see Mata not being our first choice number 10 and Rooney would not have been made captain if there was a chance that he wouldn't be first choice. That makes me think that RVP is expected to be out for an extended period this year and will be used sparingly. Herrera and Blind will play behind Mata and Rojo, Smalling and Jones will probably be our preferred back three.

Swap out Blind and Smalling in January and we probably have the best 11 in the world.

Sydney, that's the way it looks at the moment. However if Van Persie has the knee operation, then I would love to see Di Maria and Januzaj either side of either Rooney or Falcao, with either Rooney or Mata in behind. For me there would be tons of goals in that team, and it would see us revert to 4 at the back in a 4-3-3, which I think the players would be more comfortable with.
