schweinsteiger + Carrick for the No. 6 position isn't too shabby. The fee appears to be very low if true and the length of the deal will take him to Carricks age, so we won't be stuck with him on the books at a bad age.

His age will concern a few people but the LVG No. 6 is pretty much the only position on the pitch where mobility isn't of paramount concern. If we were signing a 30 year old attacking player or full back then I would feel differently as mobility is a key asset in those positions.

Would still love to have Schneiderlin as he's young enough to learn from Carrick and Schweiny. Think of the beast we would have in 2/3 years as well as the options we would have now. There's no way Schweiny will come from a one team league and maintain his high standard and fitness in the prem and we know what Carricks fitness is like so having the extra man would make a huge difference especially with the extra games this season. It also gives us a player/leader to bridge the age gap with the young lads coming through.

One only has to look at the likes of giggs, scholes and sheringham to realise that if a player looks after himself, which most top players do, that there is no reason why players that use their brains cannot still be mightily effective at 35 and beyond.
Assuming all the reports are true this will be an excellent signing whose know how and ability will be a major asset both to the 1st team and to up and coming younger players.

I just this somewhere:

'if your trying to convince yourself that Man Utd signing Scheinsteiger is a bad move because of his age, Just stop and accept he's a ******* boss'
