1) when it started to go wrong actually,
Emergence of City: when oil money took over we were playing good, but even from that time we were in need of finding UNITED QUALITY targets, few identified and because of rigidity of not paying we lost Silva, toure, Aguero to city who once were prime targets ( they are still quality) with the help of them city builded their good team.
* we actually never replace Rinaldo and Tevez with same quality or hunger for game
* Pogba and Morrison allowed to go when they were brightest of lot and would rule for a decade to come.
* Rock solid Defense allowed to age and never properly replaced. A couple of back firing signing like Jones and Smalling made but Where was next Rio and Vidic?
* Giggs and Schools were allowed longer retirement period when they should have replaced way much earlier.
* failed to sign a steady Evra replacement even when he was a liability. Still struggling there with bad luck.
* Van Nistelrooy, tevez left and we singed nobody in wait for promoting welback?
So all in all SAF himself left his precedors with totally imbalance and average squad.
* the fear factor vanished after SAF retirement and teams find common strategy to hold us by sitting deep as we have no creativity or genuine pact CF . Throwing counter punch and succeeding in beating us as defence also got non existent.
* appointment of Moyes, who was clearly bought to run the show as it was going without investment as he was doing at Everton. But the balloon blasted off and United realise brand is getting hit.
* since last 5 years Had anyone seen United ambitious enough to win UCL? No they were just happy to be top of the league. And earn money. So Business has captured passion for the game. they acted when that income got hit by not qualifying.
* then came LVG. rigid, stubborn. Made blind clear outs and made squad so thin that we show result last night that we had no experience for this big games.
* people say united spent 250m? Really? Look at the amount of players sold and released that it actually has came to minimum in summery.
* Dubious decisions like selling Hernandez, Nani, Rafael, Fabio, RVP when there was no clear cut replacements signed to cop with demand of all fixtures. These players were at least brining winning mentality from past.
* Rather signing quality center backs he opted to protect them by putting 2 deep lying midfielder and playing boring possession game and wait for one dull moment, which was exposed against Arsenal and Volfsberg.
* Smalling is just OK but protection and fellow defenders are showing him great. No offence but one man can't lead whole defence.
* unlucky with the injury and fatigue. is training methods OK?
* business is taking core DNA of passion out,

United should consider that all this huge deals and worldwide fans are because of winning and being on top.
If it is not the case eventually all will leave.
Question is if Manchester United is another Leeds United in the making?

I agreed with a good few points there rodio.

But then got to the question is part. Really mate? Another Leeds utd, that club doesn't even come close to our history nor is there any comparisons when it comes to how the football club is ran. It's ed woodward we have not Peter bloody Ridsdale.

Excellent post, we have become a bigger brand and a poorer team on the pitch, only question now is what are our solutions?
