I think we would be battling for 6th. City, Spurs and Liverpool will make next years top 4. Chelsea too probably. Arsenal and ourselves would be the ones standing still and probably missing out.

Not sure if this post is satire or not, but I'll bite!

Leicester just won the league this season. And you're ruling our a top 4 finish for us before anyone has even kicked a ball?

Hasn't Ranieri proved that just because a big named manager has come in then results will follow? Everyone tipped them for relegation when he was announced as coach given his debacle as Greece coach.

Liverpool won't make the top 4 next season, wouldn't surprise me if Spurs don't either.

"safe to say that pochettino, klopp and pep will surely guide their teams in the top4"

Really? Klopp is a bloody good manager, but he's only just really started getting his style through to his players, and he has far too many players who should only be considered "squad players" at a club like Liverpool, and he can't replace them all in one transfer window.

Pochettino, maybe, but it remains to be seen how Spurs will cope when teams like Utd, Chelsea and City aren't all having bad seasons at the same time.

And Pep? The stark reality is that he has been a massive dissapointment at Bayern, arguably taking the team backwards. His success at Barcelona was only partly his own, since he only put the finishing touches on a squad and a system which he inherited. He did do that very well, but it won't prepare him at all for City.

At both Bayern and Barca, he has taken over an outstanding squad, at the biggest club in their league, with only one or two significant domestic rivals.

At City, he will be taking over an aging squad in need of significant overhauling, at a club which is only one of half a dozen clubs capable of challenging for the title.

I don't think he can handle either the amount of genuine competition he will have at City, or the magnitude of the rebuilding job, he's never had to deal with either before. At best, I think he will have to work for a top-4 finish, at worst I can see City having the kind of season Chelsea have had this year.

I'm not saying we're guaranteed a top 4 spot or anything, but we have a decent core to our squad (DDG, Shaw, Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Schneiderlin, Herrera, Martial, Lingard, Rashford, Rooney, Mata) and with a couple of well chosen additions there is no reason we can't be back in the mix for the title.

Does depend on the manager though.

Agree with Thorne. He's not had to scrap for results before with teams also fighting for the title or top 4 spots or even to stay up.

The reason he has to go for me is that he is taking the club backwards especially as its been a season where so many so called big clubs have underperformed and yet we still couldn't challenge for the title. Given the way he is perceived to treat players and pushes his god awful philosophy i can't see many decent players looking to play under him. Its ok going through a transitional period but there must be some light at the end of the tunnel, unfortunately for LVG in the eyes of most fans the only light at the moment is his sacking. would be nice to once again see manager actually manage during a game on the OT sidelines.
