Why not benarfa for a free transfer? He's had a brilliant season and he's obviously better than what we have on the right wing.
A good manager can keep him in check. Thoughts?

{Ed004's Note - I don't mean to take over your post but I'm curious about people's opinions on Zlatan because a few sources are claiming we have offered him a contract. Good signing or another waste of money?}

How many people thought schweini was abgood signing? He might still play a few games next season. But the money can be used more wisely.

I'd be happy for him to come, he can't be a bigger waste of money than Falcao or Di Maria.

I like Ibra. He wouldn't be a waste of money. I'm sure he would score plenty and be a massive hit with the fans.

However, trying to think clearly, I think I would much rather we focus on a CB, CM and an attacker who can play across the line. I like the though of martial leading the line, switching with martial as an option and even rooney playing there when needed.

But that being said, I would be disappointed in any way if we were to sign Ibra.

{Ed004's Note - I think it makes more sense now. Especially with no Champions League to contend with. A strike force of Martial, Zlatan and RW (Sane, Mahrez etc) would be brilliant in the league and then play Memphis, Rashford and Lingard/Januzaj in Europa. Could keep Zlatan fit primarily for the league campaign. Would free up funds for a CB, CM, RW and possibly someone to play behind Zlatan if lvg/Mourinho don't fancy Mata or Rooney there}

I would love zlatan here ed004. For some players age is not a factor, ronaldo and ibra being two of them. They are so much fitter than other players, its almost ridiculous.

{Ed004's Note - But could they keep up playing in the premiership each week}

16 May 2016 21:02:40
We've been complaining about lack of pace in our front line until Rashford arrived on the scene. Can't imagine Zlatan is all that nimble anymore. Waste of money in my eyes. I'd rather dybala from juventus.

{Ed004's Note - No chance of Dybala}

16 May 2016 21:07:44
Zlatan is the shot in the arm the club need right now. He is a maverick, genius, nutcase character. In the short term he would have the same effect as Cantona oh and the reports are everywhere can see something official coming out soon.

{Ed004's Note - I can't see Zlatan signing for LvG though. Do they not have history?}

7.) 16 May 2016
16 May 2016 21:19:30
How old was Teddy sheringham when we signed him, i can't remember. Zlatan has never relied on pace and I'm sure would do i good job, but not at the expense of Rashfords development. As long as Rashford got his fair amount of games (which he has fully earned) it could be a good signing what with what he can teach Rashford and the other forwards.

Zlatan and Mourinho is the dream pair. But he won't come in as he literally despises LVG.

As you say, Martial, Zlatan and a new right wing would be a superb strike force. I think it could be Joao Mario or Mane are the two most realistic signings. I guess Rooney at number 10. Schneiderlin and a new central midfielder to compete with Herrera and we would be sorted. Apart from the centre back of course - I'd quite fancy Marquinhos.

9.) 16 May 2016
16 May 2016 21:28:31
As for Ben Arfa, he's failed in this League once before. But on a free, maybe worth it. If we were going for a free though I'd take Feghouli.

Don't think it will happen if lvg stays ed but surely he can't stay.

{Ed004's Note - I'm hoping not}

Could he possibly have the same effect that cantona had?
He could be a huge cult hero.

Sorry Ed, bloody predictive text.

I meant to say I would have no problem with Ibra coming in. But I just hope we have enough funds to buy in other areas.

We do lack that superstar we've always had down through the years. That fear factor. Martial has it, Ibra definitely has it. People would be more worried about us up top if those two were to play together. The more I think about it the more I like it. We need that spark right now to re ignite not only the team but the fans too. Ibra brings that.

{Ed004's Note - No you're ok. Also, I think if Ibra does come it has to spell the end of Rooney. We can carry one player who lacks speed and mobility IMO but I'm sick of seeing slow and lethargic football. Surround Ibra with quick and technically good players to play off and we could have a real go at the league next season. Shaw will be like a new signing and I've high hopes for other players like Mensah and Martial}

If Ibra. is still so good why are PSG so prepared to let him go, particularly as they have Champions League football again next season. The guy is 35 in October, age catches up with even the fittest eventually and the EPL is a hard, physical league. We should be building for the future not taking a punt on ageing stars in the hope that they may give us one good year.

{Ed004's Note - The man has 38 league goals and 13 assists in 29 league games. I'd hedge money on it that if he pushed for it he could get a contract in PSG again. He's a player who continuously moves clubs and makes challenges for himself. I'd be delighted with him signing for our young players to learn off}

16 May 2016 22:07:24
That's in a league that only has one team in it. I'm not convinced that's the way we need to be going but then I'm not the guy pulling the strings for Manchester United so what do I know.

What ibra lacks in speed him makes up for with speed in mind.

Some of the greatest players weren't built on their speed. Ibra is about as fast as he was 5 years ago. But his brain is still as sharp and that's were his magic lies. Unlike rooney who pretty much depended on that Burst of speed to beat players.

Yes I do worry for rooney if ibra comes in. It surely means he won't play up front again. But I think he has his heart and mind set on the Base of a midfield like scholes. However he is no where near intelligent.

I wouldn't mind keeping rooney. Preferably I would have sold him when he asked for the transfer. Sir Alex was all but phasing him out and ready to cash in. But if he were to stay it would take a manager like mourinho to get the best out of him wherever he ends up playing.

However mourinho can be ruthless and I wouldn't be surprised if he moved him on. This all depends on whether or not Mourinho comes in that is.

Can't see Ibra signing for LVG.

I'd take Zlatan if we could offload Rooney and get someone like Morata as well. 2 year contract, hopefully he would help Martial and Rashford develop and wouldn't be around long enough to stop them getting game time.

17.) 16 May 2016

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has requested guarantees on the MUFC project and especially on the name of the coach who will lead the club next season.

I'm half swedish so would obviously like zlatan in a united shirt albeit for a year or 2. He could have an impact like Cantona but for not as long. Scandinavians always seem to have done well for us and I don't see why we haven't signed more considering the climate. We should be steering clearer of the big money Latin players and looking more at Scandinavia and the eastern European players (as well as the home countries) as far south as france. Johnson, larsson, solskaer, Vidic, evra, martial, Stam, rvp, kanchelskis, berg and Cantona obviously. The only players I remember who didn't work out in those criteria but they were cheap were Poborsky, buttner, obertan and bellion.

16 May 2016 23:15:43
Zlatan for Me is physically strong enough for the league. Will draw defenders and create. space for our. other players. Yes not the quickest but his mind still is.
We would have Rashford to share the load which would bring. his game on without us being reliant on him.
Bring in a RW with pace and we would be a feared attack again.

16 May 2016 22:12:24
Ed04, who knew you were awesome...

{Ed004's Note - We have to keep that on the DL. Only me and you know about it}

I have been championing ibra for a while ed004.
I think He could help develop rashford martial and depay.
He is a maverick and a winner He wins regularly He can bring out the best in those young guys who would look up to him.
On the right a name rarely mentioned now is Lucas. He started very few games for psg and I rate him highly. Pace to burn has a lot of skill and would do well also Has a relationship work ibra. Mahrez is a non starter unfortunately mane is a possibility but i hate the African nation cup part sane i'm not familiar with to be honest.
So martial new right wing and ibra. backed up by rashford Wilson depay Jessie and adnan (not sure about adnan but will get little for him so worth seeing if he can improve) behind those 3 I would like to see 3 from Bastian / Kroos / blind/ morgan/ Herrera and wijnaldom.
Defence would be rb Darmian Tfm lb Shaw cbj. Cb 2 from varane smalling Jones and miranda for experience blind and Tfm covering.
Rojo Rooney Carrick fellaini young valencia and Mata make way.
60m in 135m spent net 75 outlay.
Expensive payoffs to rooney and co also.
If herrera goes i'd like to buy kante kroos would appreciate his legs around him.
We need midfielders that score ruin past the front man and get into the boss. Wijnaldom does that Herrera can too if allowed.
People always talk about a20 goal a season striker but you need goals from midfield too like scholes lampard Robson dare I say it Gerrard.

22.) 17 May 2016
17 May 2016 08:22:31
Zlatan would be worth signing for marketing purposes alone, plus buddy with Moyrinho, whose man-management skills would keep him going for a bit longer.

23.) 17 May 2016

Henrik Larson wasn't a waste for 3 months and neither will Zlatan be for a year!
