Earlier this week, a few posters were predicting 3-0 and 4-0 to United today. I amougst a few others predicted a very close game, a potential banana skin. I think this game might give one or two a reality check. Let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet. Don't get me wrong, 3 wins, 9 points, brilliant start. We're notoriously slow starters. So to get 3 wins in the first 3 games without playing brilliantly and while bedding new players in, is a great return. But I think some posters look at our team and now expect to steam roll teams week in week out. The premier league is too competitive for that. Hull set up to frustrate, closed our midfield down quickly, and kept very tight leaving little room for our forwards to work in. A lot of teams will set out this way against us this season and its up to us to unlock the defence. I genuinly couldn't see it happening for 92 minutes. I have to say though I thought we looked a lot more dangerous with Rashford and Mikhitarian on the pitch. They injected a bit of pace to what I thought was a static performance from our team. Martial still looks off the pace and I think a few games on the bench would benefit him. I didn't think Fellaini or Rooney had good games, having said that nor did Pogba. Credit where it's due for Wayne's assist tho. Bailly was superb again, as was Blind, who's growing into that CB position with every game. Full backs were good again.

City up next and I think we'll be a bit more reserved, that game could go either way. I'd like to see a front four of Rashford (has to start for me) , mata (10), miki and Ibra, although Rooney won't be dropped. Also like to see a bit more of Hererra.

All in all, a good game to watch, and have to be happy with the win. Last season we would have settled for a draw, tonight it looked like an old Fergie side, believing until the last kick. Was good to see. Exciting times ahead though I feel when all clicks. With De Gea, Bailly, Shaw, Pogba, Martial, Miki, Rashford, Ibra, etc, we look to have a very, very strong team.

I agree with most of that. Except i think we could have scored 3,4 on another day. Its not like we didn't have chances.

Yup. 3-0, 4-0 against Hull was never going to happen. Not this early in the season

Curtis Davies and Tom Huddlestone have been immense so far. It won't be as brashly easy as some are expecting. Hull are a solid unit at the back and have enough going forward to cause us a few problems.

A hard fought and physical 1-0 to United.

My thought was is we managed to score early, then Hull would have to come out and play a bit, which could have led to a 2,3 or 4 goal win. But the longer the game went on at 0-0 the deeper Hull would sit. Thankfully our little genius Rashford popped up with a winner.

Never mind settling for a draw, last season we might have lost that it in the last 10 minutes. Our results against the lower half of the table were awful and the reason we didn't make it into Europe. Let's see how we do against the top teams. If we can maintain our record against them as well as beat the teams we should beat, then a Champions League slot will be assured.

Fellaini made two clumsy challenges in the first half. But other than that, I don't think he put a foot wrong. Mopped up everything, with head, chest and feet, and his distribution after winning the ball was tidy, and most importantly, forward. Considering he was on a yellow card for one of those clumsy challenges, his second half performance in particular, was very solid. I think some people just can't bring themselves to say he played well. Watch the game again, mate, and concentrate on him. You might be surprised.

Agreed Stand. I was the one disagreeing with the ones who thought we'll win comfortably. I said we'll win by a narrow margin. This is a difficult league and every win will have to be earned.
Luckily the manager and players know that.

Agree Stevie, Fellaini looked a ticking time bomb first half but really grew into the game and helped us control it. I was impressed with his discipline after the yellow card tbf.

Mikhi and Rashford need to start more games, excellent cameo's. Martial needs a break from the starting 11 for a couple weeks and Mata may have to make way for the pacier Henrikh.

A good, hard fought win in classic United style. Good day yesterday.
