Here is where the current top six rank according to big chance conversion (defined by Opta as one that is reasonably expected to be scored) :
Chelsea – 11th
Tottenham – 6th
Liverpool – 2nd
Arsenal – 12th
Manchester City – 4th
Manchester United – 20th

This is why we are sixth and will not be winning anything if this continues.

That proves stats are over-rated given the Chelsea stat. Here comes th doom and gloom posters. long way to go yet!

Our top scorers in the league after zlatan is mata with 4.

If the big man doesn't deliver we can't win.

Par result, our b team isn't good enough for top four hence we don't get the results for top four when we ring the changes. Stoke were unbelievably average.

actually gnrocki stats are not over rated, above stats are about chances like zlatan was missing earlier this season or mata missed today, chances you should be burying, the reason chelsea are where they are is because while they are not best at scoring from clear cut chances they have a very good shot conversion ratio in the league, we on the other hand are just completely $hit at scoring.

Here is where the current top six rank in the Premier League according to shot conversion (excluding blocked shots) :
Chelsea – 2nd
Tottenham – 9th
Liverpool – 3rd
Arsenal – 1st
Manchester City – 5th
Manchester United – 16th

Some nice stats youve pulled there CSM, i agree with what your saying.
If Zlatan doesn't score we don't win it seems as simple as that lately.

Also he himself is missing easy chances, and passing when he should be shooting.

Good post common sense and I'm not sure why gnrocki is going on about negative (yawn) . Stats are pretty accurate and all clubs use them these days.
It is exactly why we're still in 6th position.

I personally believe the stat that matters the most is the one regarding work rate in games. To be bottom of that table is the deeper reason as to why we aren't killing off teams. We should be creating better chances and more of them, granted we aren't taking a lot of what we do create, but if we bothered to contribute more to different phases of play we would move the opposition giving us more time and we'd be creating more.

We have been wasteful, most teams don't score from every chance - if we upped the work rate we would create far more and tire out the opposition creating yet more. Lazy play, lazy finishing leads to sloppy mistakes. Just watch how slow the midfield three are to break forward almost every time we win the ball back, this is the core problem.

Beast while i agree being dead last in terms of work rate is not good, we create as many or more chances than most teams, i think only liverpool and Tottenham have created more chances, so chance creation is not an issue.

CSM - yes mate, I appreciate those stats you posted and understand. We obviously have an issue with taking chances, there are two solutions, get better at finishing or create more (do both ideally) . If we are the laziest team in the league that is an obvious area to improve in order to create even more, and with more chances we will become more clinical as they get more opportunities to improve.

I think we are missing a solskjaer or hernandez to come off the bench and get us out of the s##t from time to time. A poacher. We don't have one

The situation would be far more worrying if we were not creating chances.
To me it says with a little improvement from all and the addition of one good finisher/ poacher we will really be something
