For what's it is worth I would have liked Welbeck to stay for a little longer. It was funny as the way LVG set up a floating Welbeck could have been a great asset in his team yet LVG sold him. He is a good player but injuries and consistency seem to be drawing him down the same path as a Daniel Sturridge.

Rafael was the interesting one. He had a tonne of ability and loved the club but his fitness kept him down. I am not sure how he is getting on in France but I feel he could have offered something to a problem position.

This is exactly the reason I don't think United will keep Shaw as he is going through similar fitness and injury concerns. With Shaw though there is still time to recoup part of the massive fee paid for him and I think United will look at that.

I lik Danny but we is very erratic. Sometimes he can look world class, mostly he fell over his own feet too often.

As for Rafael, his commitment was great but he was rash and impulsive continually diving into challenges. We all thought he would grow out of it but he showed no signs of doing so.

Would we have either of them in the team right now? I would say no

Agree ajh. Danny goes from looking top class to very average. He could have been a good squad player and if you look at the last 2 season's he would probably have offered me than a couple who were kept. But he wanted to play more often and that Amado had to be taken into consideration.
Rafael always gave his all but even that was not enough imo.

Good post AJH. Completely agree with all of that.

I'd rather have Welbeck out wide than Mata, Lingard or Rashford. for various reasons. I was amazed when we sold him and changed our formation to one that would suit him perfectly imo. He isn't perfect, but he is versatile, quick, works hard, GETS GOALS, English (HG), and would give everything for the team.

I agree with your post, hope you are wrong about Shaw and he knuckles down, but we can't be expecting to compete with Rojo and Blind playing as LB, so if Shaw isn't going to make it sell in the summer and by a first class replacement.

Rafael over Darmian any day of the week as well, I loved Rafael despite his lapses. Plus he is Home Grown, nice kid and just needed some time imo (Jones was more injury prone than Rafael and Welbeck as well and he is pulling up trees at the minute) .

Who cares, they've gone. Welbeck wanted to go. Wasn't good enough when he had the chances.
Think the players we have brought in Miki Martial etc are much better. Don't see the problem

On instinct, Danny was a very good player. Unfortunately, the problems arise when he had time to think.
