With a lot of criticism of our players from our own fans on here lately, I just wanted to again praise Tony V. What a player he has become at full back for us. He's a much better full back than he ever was winger. A top professional, the shape he keeps himself in, out of the limelight, head down, work hard, and the goal he got epitomises him as a player. Herrera has been brilliant this season, but Tony V for me is our player of the season. RB should not be a priority position we target this summer. Tony will be fine for next season. And on that note, Luke Shaw take note. If ever there's a professional to look up too it's him. He's also suffered a leg break like Shaw, and come back fully committed and improved. I hope Shaw can do something similar.

Player of the season for me. His game has improved vastly, all facets. Many people said all he can do was run, but we are seeing a very complete player in tony v.

I'd challenge anyone to name a better RB right now.

Coleman, Bellerin, Walker just from our league.

Valencia stands out because he is one of the few that really fights, works hard and seems to care about winning or losing. We need more like that, but on the flip side he is limited defensively, limited going forward and really isn't to the overall standard required for us to be winning the league and CL. Great squad player, but Herrera has done better than him this season imo.

The fact that Tony V has been one of our best players this season shows how poor most have been.

Other than Hererra he has made more tackles than anyone else in our team this season. And has been beaten by his opponent just 7 times in 24 games. Going forward he's second only too Pogba for most dribbles past players, and he's delivered more successful crosses into the box than any full back in the league. In fact 10 more than any player in the league. Doesn't seem too limited to me beast. Not like you to pick a negative vibe.

Beast you are so blinkered. Bellerin is a good shout, but walker is just pace. Coleman of two seasons ago maybe. Not now. The fact that your using Valencias good performances to put down the rest of the squad just proves everyone's point. You've definitely got a chip on your shoulder about the team this season. We lose, not happy. We win, still not happy. No pleasing some. Onwards and upwards. Still in the battle for top 4 with a solid chance. Very good chance of progressing to semis of Europa and an efl cup in the bag. Not a bad season so far.

At least David de Gea isn't our best player.

I think Tony Valencia has been excellent as has Herrera however there upgrades around.

Valencia player of the year for me this season, absolute quality every game and always gives 100%, has become one of the best full backs in the league if not the world and on current form he's better than all 3 of the players Beast said. Not like you to not back one of our players Beast.

7.) 20 Mar 2017
20 Mar 2017 12:27:17
Yeah I do have a chip on my shoulder, have you watched the performances, seen the league table?

Valencia has been solid for us, but it proves my point that if he is one of the best performers for us this season it isn't good enough to compete. How far are Chelsea ahead of us or do they not count for some reason (Conte has been in the job just as long as Jose has with far less experience of the league)?

Terrible season so far, Micky Mouse cups like the EFL Cup and Europa League are not important in the grand scheme, they are weapons to excuse failure in the league. We are playing Anderlecht in a Qtr final for crying out loud, would they even be good enough for the Premier League?

Beast, the OP was about how well Valencia has played and what a good full back he's turned into. You've turned that into "well if he's our best player this year the rest of the team are sh*te". Agenda.

9.) 20 Mar 2017
20 Mar 2017 12:47:37
No - I turned it into "Herrera" has been our best player, Valencia has been one of the best but he isn't the long term answer. I was adding to the discussion. It's most of you that see the negative and ignore the positive in what I say. BYE>.

Beast, today is 'International Day of Happiness 2017'. Try to post something positive about the team you 'support', even if just for a day.

Yes we are 5th with 2 games in hand against 4th – Not the best situation but definitely could be worse.
Of course Chelsea count Beast but I wouldn’t consider Mourinho and Conte’s team situations the same would you….?
Conte inherited a team that had one awful season due to a management breakdown! . Also the squad was still the title winning squad from the season before. With a good manager the new manager buzz and with a couple of quality signings they sprung back into life.
Mouriniho has taken on a much larger task in my opinion –Trying to recover from a tough few years since Fergie and playing awful boring possession football for the last two. I am pleased with the direction the performances are going as a whole. We have brought in 4 quality players and I expect us to be challenging next year.
These “Micky Mouse Cups” are still silverware that increase our trophy cabinet… yes they might not have the prestige.
You’re telling me if when Mourinho came in he said he could guarantee Europa League and top 4 you wouldn’t have been happy with that in a first season? (I know we haven’t won Europa yet)

Worilee - Trouble is I would love to answer your questions in detail but the lynch mob will be out for me. Even when I am unquestionably correct in what I say the majority still try and twist words to make it seem I am saying something else, or ignore my point and try and obfuscate.

We haven't achieved top 4 yet either mate. The League was the only thing that really mattered this season. Europa is a risky insurance policy and should never be relied on.

When I was getting 50 odd disagrees last year about LVG, I can count on one hand how many people actually came back and said "fair play to Beast for calling it right". I fully expect the same this time, because there is no serious progress yet, just hope and that was always the case with LVG as well, until at one point hope eventually vanished for the masses.

Nobody has answered me on my below point yet, they just come back with excuses "it's too early, he is getting there, another £200m window, bla bla bla". But for the last time, how many games have we played well and won well this season? I can count less than 5.

People habitually forget the actual performance, probably because there was very little positive to remember about them. After almost every game without fail this season the posts are "the result matters more than the performance", virtually every game is a grind, but that is forgotten by the time the next grind-fest is upon us. It's true of course in the main that the result is more important, but where are these good performances that people keep on talking about? Selective memories and selective standards.

Most people on here keep saying we are on the right path, but I see no evidence of this. 20 minutes against Bournemouth in the last 10 games is not the right path performance wise. 2 or 3 good team displays in December is not enough for me. Truth hurst, I support the club over the manager and individual players and the club is woefully under achieving when it comes to entertainment and it's still a lottery if we will achieve on core fundamentals (which are artificially low) .

Behave beast.

Raves about a very average Rashford but slates the most complete fullback in the league.

Where does Valencia rank among other RBs? I believe I read the other day he was top 3 for all considered stats in the league.

Or is every fullback in English football now having a poor year as well?

14.) 20 Mar 2017
20 Mar 2017 15:33:14
Jose you have proven my point.

Where have I slated Tony V?
When have I raved about Rashford?

The lies and misinformation posted on here is laughable.

Beast relax mate.
You have your opinion your entitled to that but you can't expect everybody to agree with you.
I think we all want to win or aspire to win titles but we have not done that for 4 years and missed out on top 4 twice recently. So with the players we have we are not going to simply leapfrog 4 or 5 teams just like that.
Personally I see a huge admit of progress in certain aspects overt lady year. I see good foundations in place in terms of recruitment and in mentality.
Imo you are guilty of expecting too much too soon and you ate guilty of remembering the fergie era as one of perfect football which it was not.
In the main or squad is full of players who have achieved very little at United or indeed a lot have never won anything anywhere.
Outside of ddg who I think has 1 maybe 2 titles. Carrick and rooney who are over the hill jones and smalling who hardly contributed to any previous success and valencia who is a real steady eddy. Wig won nothing miki nothing shaw nothing bailly nothing martial rojo nothing herrera nothing Rashford nothing blind nothing . Pogba ibra and mata come with great pedigree and are the ones that are delivering goals assists and creating chances. It takes time we need to get a couple more players but I think we will finish 2nd or 3rd and win 2 cups that will be our most succesful season for 5 years. It will get even better next year.
Sure your are as passionate as the next person on here but don't get frustrated when others disagree or argue their point with you.
I would say that you are a really good poster and great craic most of the time on live chat.
Most people can see a significant change you can't I think if you remain patient you will see all the changes you want over the next 12 months and see us competing at the top table again because we have the right man in charge to do that. Imo😁.

You slate tony v above when calling him limited and basing his good year on the fact that the team is having a poor year.

At least try not to contradict yourself when having a go at the player.

18.) 20 Mar 2017
20 Mar 2017 19:01:35
So saying somebody has been one of our best players, saying he is doing well is ignored. But me saying he is limited is slating him? Everyone is limited, get a dictionary.

19.) 20 Mar 2017
20 Mar 2017 19:24:49
And don't ask angel to read the dictionary it's a rubbish read I could couldn't make any sense out if it😊.

Beast,

If you didn't act like the all knowing up your own arse sometimes then people might tell you that you were right, it seems like you stand in front of the mirror every night telling yourself how great your opinions are, you don't need us to do that.

21.) 20 Mar 2017
20 Mar 2017 22:38:42
Beast I posted earlier but not sure if it went through. The crux of my post was that I agree with a lot of what you say but don't understand why you say it in a negative manner. The op talked about how one of our players are doing well, and the stats back that up, yet you used it as another chance to point out the problems in our side.

The improvements in our squad are obvious to see when compared to the last 3 definitely and maybe up to 5-6 years. We still lack balance and need a few further signings to improve key areas due to poor choices by our previous 2 managers, but we are improving.

I had hopes of a top 2/ 3 finish this year and with a bit more of a clinical edge that's where we would be. The big questions are am I satisfied with the season? No not at all. Am I happy with the progress? Yes I am. Am I happy that the player of the season debate doesn't include our gk? 100%.
