What is the general consensus about Shaw's cameo last night?

Was eager to please. 1st run was great unfortunately he couldn't match it with an equally good cross.
His crosses were hit and miss. But, in a way, He did equalize for us. So I think he deserves more game time.

Was it Shaw or Mourinho? His comments about Shaw using his brain are baffling. I thought he looked very good when he came on. Surely a pat on the back and a well done from the manager would've been better for the lad.

I did expect him to look lost, mainly due to having no game time.

He surprised me though, i'm impressed at the imp[act that he had.

Great cameo at left back by Jose, the way Jose made the shot and bobble it onto the defenders arm for the penalty was pure genius.

{Ed004's Note - I thought he made a good impact and it was a positive display for him but he does have a long way to go. He still doesn't look in great shape. At the start of last season he had absolutely blistering pace and that seems to have gone unfortunately. Also need him to get to the byline more often}

Agree Ed I was just having a dig at joses comments about it being his brain and shaws body playing. One for the all time stupid Jose comments box, which is growing.

If Jose standing on shaw's flank allowed him to make decisions for the player, maybe he should try and stand on the byline and make decisions for the attackers to help them get the ball in the bloody net.

Like Rashford he is a young player and he needs time and a decent run in the time to gain confidence and play to his full potential.

JM's comment on Shaw is ridiculous. He may as well have tripped him up and started kicking him on the ground. It is obvious that the lad's confidence is so low that he doesn't want to make a mistake. So to further publicly berate him will not help anybody and just cause further resentment from Shaw and the rest of the squad.

It sounds like shaw playing well was a issue for Jose.

Had to put his performance down, what's going on?

It's all most like Shaw playing well was an issue for Jose.

Its like Jose is trying to get a reaction out of Shaw. If he didn't want him, he would have been gone in January. Now its upto Shaw to prove him wrong and fulfill his potential.

I think it might be jred, Jose has always gone to war with one player at every club he has been at. It's part of his management style, show the players what it's like to be on the mangers bad side to make them want to stay on his good side.

It's part of the reason he is a short term manager. Eventually he runs out of players to pick on and the team realise he is just a bit of a bully. Then their level of commitment drops and Jose's style of football relies on his team's total commitment, that then effects the results, Jose's ego goes into melt down and he self destructs.

People thought it would be Schweinsteiger who Jose would pick on this time round, but by the looks of it Shaw is the one who'll be bullied out the club.

Which is a shame as I feel with the right manager and the right people around him Shaw could be an excellent player. Yeah he has attitude problems, but not on the Balotelli scale. Cantona was no angel but Sir Alex got a tune out of the guy. Shaw started to show at the start of last season what he could do. Then he broke his leg, and it appears he slipped back into old habits.

I said before Jose was hired he wouldn't be my first choice. Actually Conte was high up on the list of managers I wanted, I was told he was too defensive and his 3 at the back system was boring. I wonder how many Chelsea fans are bored watching their team this season. There was three reasons I didn't want Jose last summer, his poor track record with youth players, his less than stunning playing style, and the unnecessary ugliness he brings upon the club from time to time.

Here we are three quarters of the way through the season, and I still have those same worries. I will back the guy, clearly we are heading in the right direction, I'm a little less confident that we will get there before Jose self destructs than I was before. But we will have a better team for the next manager, who that next guy is and when he takes charge are vital to our long term success.

Shaps .
As you no I wanted Jose and not conte but so far conte has been head and shoulders above Jose.
Jose doesn't look happy I don't think the team does .

On a different note this is what kvd said after leaving Chelsea

He [Mourinho] called in all the attacking midfielders. He showed us the stats of his six players - assists, goals, passing percentage, key passes, dribbles. He wanted to prove I didn't perform on the level of the others.

"I simply answered him: 'Sorry, that's not logical. I've played less games than the others. How can you compare me to the others? ' That was just not fair in my eyes.

"There was talk that I didn't train too much, stories I couldn't defend myself against as the sessions were always behind closed doors"

"People who know me, know it's not the truth. A few months later, I was a key player at Wolfsburg and I played a good World Cup. Who's right then? "

Would it kill Jose to realise that maybe some players, just like any other worker, react better to the arm round the shoulder, rather than a public humiliation. He's going to join Lukaku and De Bruyne on the list of talented young players that Jose has forced out of a club, because it appears he doesn't know how to handle and progress youth.

He has just been unlucky we should be top of the league .

Conte has been very lucky every time Chelsea play the other team don't play as well as them 😂.

i'm inclined to believe Jose persistent criticism of Luke Shaw is merely to cover the cracks of poor team performances. we needed Jose's brain up front against West Brom ;)

Stevie it's been 10 months of Jose at the club. He has now come out with his "public humiliation" of Shaw. What do u think he has benn up to till now. May be an arm around the shoulder? He is not the first one to claim Shaw has issues. So it would not be harmful for the lad to listen to the most successful manager of the past decade.
