I saw a post down the page that said the likes of Lingard aren't going to win you trophies. Apart from the FA Cup, the Charity Shield, and the League Cup of course.

This obsession with buying more star players isn't good no to get us anywhere. We have a strong squad that needs a couple of additiins, our first team is very good but is currently not perfoming to its best. Dumping players and buying new ones isn't going to help, we need to get the best out of the very good players we have.

Lingard is hands down the single most important player in the Mourinho way of playing.

Read some of the analysis on Lingard and what Mourinho's asking him to do, without him we'd be a lot worse off than we are.

He may not bag 20 goals and 10 assists but without him zlatan and Rashford wouldn't be nearly as effective.

I'd go as far to say that Lingard would start at almost any top team in the league for his tactical adaptability and the fact he never let's the manager down.

I'd sell Rashford, Martial and Pogba before I sell Lingard.

{Ed025's Note - really?..half decent player who can be great one game and awful the next for me, a poor mans ryan giggs who would not get anywhere near the chelsea, city or spurs squad mate..

I like lingard and rate him TBH. Never really disappointed with him, always gives a hundred percent.

However that is a quite laughable post above.

Moon thinks Rashford is the next Defoe, and Lingard is the second coming. What a surprise.

Lingard is a somewhat effective squad player who's work rate glosses over his poor decision making and general inconsistency. If he works at his game, he could potentially fulfill a Parkesque squad role for us. Never a starter in a million years for a top class side.

Lingard is a vital player that every team needs.

Who remembers Real Madrid's Galacticos? Do you know what they won? Pretty much bugger all.

Why because you can't build a team out of egos.

Every great team has had one or two players who gave 110% every game, players who sacrifice personal glory for the good of the team.

The great Barcelona team of a few years back had Pedro doing a very similar thing that Lingard does for us atm.

People seem to want 11 superstars on the pitch, yet they often lack the presence of mind to help together and create a team. You need a few of these guys who knit all the components of a team together.

Lingard does that for us, that is why both Arsenal and Spurs showed an interest in him before he signed a new deal earlier this year.

He also has a habit of s scoring key goals in finals which is a good habit to have.

Lingard is our new Park Ji Sung but worse.
Park almost always scored the chances he got when we played him, Lingard misses sitters sometimes.
But I expect him to improve or else he can leave in the next 2 years if he's still the same player who bottles chances and easy ones.
He makes the right runs but lacks that finishing lethal touch.

Lingard is good at running on to the ball and he scores from it but as a midfielder or number 10 he's hopeless. Looking at the stupid videos he puts out I suspect he's all ego. Not enough backbone for me. Miki is the level of squad player we want, he was 30m which is probably what we'd ask for Lingard. Different class.

Good man. Back in when things are starting to get interesting. This place could do with a bit of humour. And proper humour, as opposed to the unintentional sort found on here fairly regularly.
