Good read ed. Can't see any reason to dispute or counter any Of that. Of all the young keepers I like Butland. I know he has missed 18 months but he looks like he has more raw talent and is a much more vocal keeper with a lot more presence. I can see him in a top 6 club if he is back to his best next season. I think pickford can play to a really good level and can see him being everton no1 for ten years and being an England squad member and a really solid keeper like Tim flowers or Tim Howard but I can see Rutland being as good as seaman or Martyn if he stays healthy and shows no Ill effects off the side of his inbred ankle. Both for me are already better than Hart.

{Ed001's Note - I did say that when I was watching Sunderland play Arsenal, Butland looks head and shoulders above Pickford. As for Hart, I would pick you over him, yes he really is that bad!}

And thank you ken, glad you enjoyed. Sorry knocked the submit button before I had finished with my reply then.

I can understand why Pickford is getting hype, as he does save shots that some other keepers would not get to, his rections and agility are top bracket. However, he is just putting them straight back into the danger area. Which means they are still ending up in the back of the net more often than not, but people don't notice that as they are too busy saying 'wow' about his save.

If he organised the defence well, he would not be facing so many shots in the first place. I mean, to stick with the Arsenal example, there was one point where Kone had been dragged forward out of position, O'Shea had not spotted the gap and started to drop back. I saw him look and see that, but he never did anything about it. Someone like say Peter Schmeichel would have screamed at O'Shea, he would have woken up, spotted the gap and got into position. Instead there was a huge gaping hole that Arsenal just strolled through.

Spot on ed001.

{Ed001's Note - I wonder if he would get any of this hype if he was foreign...}

I can confirm he wouldn't ed🤣 good potential but even if he fills his potential to its maximum I don't see a top 10 keeper in the world in him.

{Ed001's Note - nor me, but then I never rated Joe Hart either and we all know he has turned out to be world class as the media keeps telling us so and how Pep is wrong to discard him. Oh and all those howlers and goals conceded in Turin are not his fault at all. No way could it be the English media overhyping a player who is English. That would never happen.}
