Ed004, you mention Dier a lot and I too rate him highly. He's a team player and he likes to get stuck in, and his time in Portugal has done no harm for his technical ability.

Do you think we have a chance of signing him?

{Ed004's Note - I'm hoping we do now that it looks likely that Fabinho is heading elsewhere. I think it'll be hard to negotiate with Levy though especially if Walker and Rose want to leave. He's one of those players that'll allow other players like Pogba to be more attacking minded, very good defensively, good on the ball and a very serious threat from set pieces}

Where's Fabinho heading ed?

{Ed004's Note - If I was to guess it looks like Man City}

Silva, Mendy and Fab. I must have missed the official announcement that Monaco had become their feeder club.

Not good.

Jesus they mean business. They'll be the team to beat next year. Jesus looks a player too, with Jesus, Aguero, both Silva, Sane, De Bryne, Sterling, they will be favourites.

{Ed004's Note - And Benfica goal keeper as well to come in Ederson}

"Good evening

Can I please have the latest on the following Monaco players

Mendy
Fabinho
Lemar
Bakayoko

Many thanks

{Ed002's Note - (a) Of interest to Manchester City, Liverpoool with Arsenal, Juventus and Inter not seeing value in his asking price. (b) Of interest to Manchester United and Barcelona with Napoli, Juventus and Manchester City all passing for now. (c) Bayern Munich and Arsenal are keen - Chelsea and Manchester City were told that only one of Silva and Lemar would be sold, so price could potentially become prohitive. (d) Of interest to Manchester United and, particularly Chelsea with Juventus, Arsenal, Leicester, Southampton and Stoke all out of the picture. }.

I rate Dier. Great positional sense, rarely gives the ball away and easily unnoticed for how he allows the more advanced creative players to do their thing. He'd be an ideal Carrick replacement in my opinion. I suspect he'd be difficult to sign though.

Dier is a United fan as well.

I'd rather Bakayoko than Dier personally.

Dier does a decent job, he's consistent but not great at anything, a 7/ 10 player. You need them in your team as you need that steadiness (Valencia I would categorise as a 7/10 player), but I don't think we should be spending mega-money on Steady Eddys.

However if it's a choice between Dier and Matic I'd go for Dier, I just don't think he adds a great deal to the table, rather promote youth or go all out for world class. He's a nice to have, not need to have.

Beast I suppose you mean Bakayoko will be more than a 7/ 10 and basing that rating on some good reasons? 'cos Dier has one thing Bakayoko doesnt, ie he has proved himself in the epl! No whining about weather, food, culture, work load etc.

Yeah Bakayoko is a monster that I really rate, I think he is much better than Dier.

Griezzman, Silva, Mendy, Fabinho etc etc etc haven't proven themselves in the EPL, I get that it's an advantage having played in the league but if that is Dier USP then so what, hundreds of midfielders have it?

I don't rate Dier that highly, solid but English hype as usual - rather have kept Schneiderlin. Would cost £20-25m at fair value, but probably have to spend £50m+ for him and he won't bring much to the table.

{Ed004's Note - Bakayoko slightly worries me after watching his performances vs Juventus. He was at fault for a couple of goals and was poor compared to the other midfielders on the pitch that night. I'd also worry that he always seems to play on the left side of the midfield which is were Pogba always plays for united. Finally, I thought he looked destined for Chelsea}

Yes I agree he was poor in the semi final, Monaco as a team were but he had a stinker (he did have that face mask on which looked to effect his vision and against an awesome Juve it was enough to make him look poor) . But he has stood out for me whenever I have watched him aside from that. Dier just doesn't do it for me, but I'm not too bothered as we shouldn't really have a holding midfielder with most teams playing with just one up top. Only really necessary in big games.

We should have signed Pjanic last year imo, but I could cope with Matuidi as mentioned above - we do need reinforcements in there but top quality ones not more utility players like Dier imo!

This reminds me of the Carvalho rumors of seasons past.
