I care a great deal who our competitors buy - how can you possibly evaluate things if you pay no attention to your rivals?

If we sign Griezzmann to their Silva, then great, but if we sign Perisic to their Silva then we are weaker imo. It's vital that we target and sign better players than our rivals as we have 5 league places to make up, that job gets harder the more quality players they sign.

Furthermore if we are both going for the same player and our rival gets them ahead of us, then we should be asking why is that the case. Burying our heads in the sand and not critically analysing decisions/ scenarios is not productive and leads to bias or incredible views.

Bernardo silva is better than mata, let's not paint it. It really shows mourinho set up if he signs persic. Pep is more of a tactical coach whereas mourinho would rather play 10 fellanis on the pitch.

Beast,

The last 2 seasons the league was won by teams that didn't buy the fancy names but bought sensibly, players that fit their system.

It doesn't matter what our rivals do as long as we get the players we want. I fully believe we will manage to get most of our targets this summer.

Have you seen any of Jose's title winning sides? They were nowhere near being 10 Fellainis on the pitch. That is an absolutely ridiculous comment.

Drogba, Lampard, Joe Cole, Essien, Milito, Sneijder, Marcelo were his key players at Chelsea and Inter. His Real Madrid played some of the most breathtaking counter attacking football I have seen. He got the absolute best out of Ozil, Ronaldo and Di Maria.

Just because Jose knows how to setup to nullify an opposition doesn't mean his teams don't play well. There is no other manager I would take to win a one off final, a big game. He figures out a plan to beat the opposition with the players at his disposal.

Whose anyone got ahead of us yet, Ederson? Silva? Mendy?
Didn't realise we went in for any of them or if we did then who is Ederson? Nobody was screaming for him, Isn't griezmann our target not Silva, I'm sure most clubs have some degree of interest in the same players at the top and if they choose city or whoever ahead of us then we didn't want them in anyway.
Season finished a week ago, just let Woody do his business, only Jose knows whose a, b, c off the list. Perisic is a winger not a Fellaini.

well this is what happens when a club is linked with every player. at the end of the transfer window i would love to see the lists Mourinho gave to Ed Woodward 2 months ago.

City signed a player they don't really need. We need to sign players who fit what we need not players that don't that we end up stuck with. Seems like for the first time in 5 years we have a proper transfer plan.

Not sure i agree with city buying players they don't need Hart, zabaletta, cliche and navas leave so they buy a right sided attacker and are linked with a GK and fullbacks they perceive as an upgrade.
Utd banked money from sales recently without replacing, maybe peresic is depay replacement. Hopefully 2 cm to replace the two who left in jan are already lined up. then hopefully we can do what city are doing ship some out and upgrade.

{Ed002's Note - Perisic would not be a Depay replacement.}
