If Rooney is set to leave, I would love to see Dele Alli come in as our new no. 10!

The guy is still young and learning and you've seen how he links with Kane and I could see the same thing happening with Morata?

Good luck with that.

I would love Alli but it's never going to happen.

Ronnie, Alli is probably the best player in the league right now and as much as I would love to see him in a United shirt we've got absolutely no chance.

Money always talks with Levy!

The kid is special!

Ronnie i agree it would be great.

He's young and learning, no surprise you rate him Ronnie.

I think there's more chance of me playing in the next World Cup than Deli Alli joint Utd. I agree, he would be a great signing.

Already have our number 10 sorted, he called Paul Pogba, I would give him the number 10 shirt this summer.

I have no words.

No, wait, I do. I LOVE that here we are, several transfer windows after Ronnie first appeared on the site, still receiving the same relentlessly optimistic (some might say delusional) posts from him. I LOVE that after all the rational arguments he's faced down, countless incorrect predictions, and all the dogs' abuse too, he hasn't changed one bit. I LOVE that all the regular posters seem to now treat him with an equal mix of patience and indulgence, like a slightly annoying younger brother.

As a long time reader myself, I at first found him ridiculous, then irritating for a long time, then hilarious again, and now, finally, I feel I have some genuine affection for the lad, and even in some bizarre way look forward to his missives from fantasy land. I can't help but wonder if he goes about his daily life in exactly the same way, and if he does, then I for one am extremely happy for him. So here's to Ronnie: the man who owns not only one half-full glass, but also several other magic glasses, each overflowing with dreams!

Early nomination for post of the year Jeff.

Yeah, it's the constant names of 'young boys' that slightly bothers me.

Eds, why are posts such as that from unbelievablejeff allowed through where he's clearly belittling someone. Ronnie's posts might be optimistic but he (and others) would surely be put off posting with comments like that. The best thing about this place, apart from your insights, as that it's kept mostly respectful.

{Ed001's Note - is it belittling him or is it just saying he has grown to respect Ronnie for what he is, rather than what he wanted him to be?}

Wazza, I do not think that was belittling. In fact it was respectfully spot on.

Oh, and Ed 1: I would say that's right, that was more or less exactly what I was aiming for. So, thanks.

Wazza
Sorry you feel that way mate: I wasn't aiming for disrespectful - a little tongue in cheek, a little teasing perhaps, nothing more. Like I say - genuine affection.

AJH
He does tend to pop up more during transfer windows doesn't he? And it can be slightly frustrating that he largely refuses to engage in threads he initiates, or to answer direct questions. As I imply above, I would also be interested to read his views on a wider range of topics.

Ruudinthemood
Thanks pal, that's very kind of you to say.

Wazza,

I was sure you were going to ask why posts like Ronnie's about random players get through and posted on the site not the brilliant response from Jeff. One persons post of the year is another persons belittling of a regular.

I am with AJH on this one, anyone who doesn't care about the games and is only interested in United signing young boys isn't a proper fan just a wind up merchant.

unbelievablejeff, it was probably unfair that my response ended up on your post, I'd bit my tongue a few times in the past where someone has said something about Ronnie and then a few others have joined in, in all honesty this definitely isn't the worse example of that but there has been times when he's had some borderline comments aimed at him. I don't think he's a wind up merchant by any stretch, I just think he genuinely likes to see us bring in young players and develop them. To be fair, we haven't done that enough for a long time, and there's not much sign that will change given the demands of fans these days.

Sorry my reply ended up on your post.
