Heart says yes but brain says no. He turns 33 in February and although he looks after himself like few others he cannot stop the march of time. He still has another few years at the very top and maybe a year or two after that at a very high level left in him. But moving back to a more physically demanding league isn't going to be easy for him. Maybe PSG would be the best move for him. If he can go there and help them win their first UCL then he will have won it with three different clubs and cement his place as one of the greatest ever.

On a financial note he would want at least a four year deal, which means we will likely be looking at a deal that will top 300m easily when you consider transfer fee, wages and agents/ legal fees. That could even top 400m if Real hold out for a fee in excess of 180m which is probable considering they reportedly want 80m for Morata.

For a player who is only going to decline that is too much.

So with a heavy heart I say no.

The romantic would say yes and he is still more than capable of being the best player in this league but financially it would be a haemorrhage cash.

Let's all remember one key aspect of the Ronaldo team and that is they manage all his commercial ventures. There would be very fine margins for the club to claw back even a minor part of the investment.

If Ryan Giggs could provide us with his services till his late 30s (i know a bit in midfield) then why not Ronaldo? He looks after his body well enough to last another 5/ 6 years for sure.

As a CF, you need to be smart/ clever and not just keep running like a donkey!

So yes for me anyday!

We didn't have to pay £100m and £500,000 a week for Giggs when he was 33. Any team that buys Ronaldo this summer are complete mugs.

If it's him AND another striker then yes but if it's him OR someone who could lead our line for a decade then it's no.

Hell yes.

Won't happen though.

Agree with Shappy my thoughts exactly.

I kind of get your reasoning Danny but never thought I'd read 'any team that buys Ronaldo this summer are complete mugs'.
My head says no he's only getting older but then I think about what he done in the 2nd half of the season just gone especially the latter stages of the CL and I believe whoever signs him could get 100+ goals over the next 3 seasons. No other player comes close to his goal scoring except Messi and he doesn't look like slowing down any time soon in the no.9 role.

Like that my heart says yes but my head says no.

He would do a much better job than Zlatan. I think CR would actually enable us to have more chance of success whilst we are still in transition.
All depends on price v value added. A 4yr deal mooted by some would imo frustrate our younger talent and may inhibit high profile younger potential signings.
I'd be in favour of 2,may be 3 years.

If he avoids major injuries Ronaldo will be remain a top player into his late 30s I doubt there's a better physically blessed athlete in football right now so yes

18 Jun 2017 16:35:33
Yes, but it's all a game and will stay at Madrid with his taxes paid. Imo.

Ronaldno.

21.) 18 Jun 2017
18 Jun 2017 18:56:08
Yes from me

He would have been the difference between draws and wins last season. If he was there instead of zlatan that is.

Since I read that he 'apparently' wants to leave, I have been thinking if I would want him to return or not. I've gone from no to yes, back to no again, then yes, then no. I've settled on yes now. It would be a lot of money in fee, but get Rooney and Zlatan off the books and his wages are more than covered. He'd get goals guaranteed, and 90% of our draws last season would have been wins, where could we have ended up last season with just that one addition?

We would make money from him being here which would help with the transfer fee, and we would have one of the two real world class stars at the club, which for Woody and the Glazers would be ideal for doing what they do best, securing even more sponsorship deals globally.

That said, it won't happen and he will be at Madrid next season.
