I think he is just saying that he will buy who he thinks is best suited to what he wants, not just who everyone else wants or flavour of the month. Take Bailey last year, Not who others had identified but who his scouting had picked suited. Same again this year with Peresic being looked at.
We all think the surprise is a big one but may not be the case.
That said if Bale came in I would be surprised and happy.

People will still be screaming for this surprise on Deadline Day when Jim White is bringing it up and all our business finished 3 weeks earlier. People are so desperate for the shiny new signing they will believe anything at this time of year, it's funny.

Surprise is Rooney is staying, will be like a new signing next year. Sadly like we've signed Trev from the Sunday league, but a new signing no less.
