If the story is true that Chelsea were willing to meet the fee set by Everton for Lukaku but unlike United were not willing to meet the agent fee set by Raiola then I am very ashamed of Manchester United.

It has been well documented how much Raiola made from the Pogba deal and if he has again leeched another massive pay day from United that other clubs weren't stupid enough to meet then it is a sad day.

These agents are the worst part of the game and for huge clubs like United to continue throwing massive amounts of cash at them to exert their influence on young kids and men is disgusting.

If the club really want a player then I'm happy for the club to pay the player what he demands, pay the selling club what they demand and pay the agent what he deserves not what he demands. Pitiful.

{Ed025's Note - the problem is maze that if utd missed out on lukaku because they would not go that extra mile then the supporters would be up in arms, i totally know where you are coming from though as agents like mino age bleeding the game dry mate..

Looks like we are willing to pay more overall than Chelsea but the extra £ will be leaving the game rather than trickling down the leagues. This is the way it is these days, unfortunately.

Being a football agent seems a great way to make a fortune. Where do I sign up? Ha!

People need to move on with the times.

Agents are the ones in control

Days are gone when players didn't even need a agent.

Nothing wrong having good relationships with super agents who are more powerful than certain clubs.

The unfortunately world we live in when it comes to agents like Mino.

Unfortunately sometimes when signing a player you have to go that bit further to get him a la pogba and lukaku.

But I hate agents and what they have become. They should be their to protect their client, not leech off them.

Again, the unfortunate world of football. Not the club's fault.

Agree angel it's not uniteds fault most of these problems with agents are due to how the law is structured currently so I'd go further and say it isn't even the agents fault either. They don't make any laws they just make lucrative use of the loopholes. I'd rather we pay extra than go doing illegal things like tapping up players.

Fans will have the mindset of "oh it's only a few million extra to an agent, just pay it". Then they'll be the first to complain when their sky subscription goes up.

I have huge admiration and respect for what raiola does. Fair play to him. He is smart and making a fortune. If anybody in here says they wouldn't do the same if they had the opportunity then i would be surprised.
You have to admire him for his entrepreneurial skills.
Everybody is entitled to maximise their earnings and he is. He continues to sign players to his books and players go to him because he is good at what he does.
Not the nicest person by all accounts but i'm sure he is liked by the people he cares about and laughs at the rest of his haters.

Didn't we complain for lack of like for like replacements when Ferguson basically refused to play the agent game and we ended up scarcely signing a key outfield player for about 5 years.

You respect a man whose contributing to the commercialisation of football, Ken?

I'm sure the man wouldn't starve without the extortionate fees he claws out of clubs.
