Football365 reporting that Zlatan is recovering much quicker than previously thought and may earn a contract to the end of the year. Can anyone confirm whether we would be interested in this deal and if so how would it affect our shape.

I'm all for it as long as he does not play every game like last year.

If the beginning of November is likely then it could be four quality strikers that all offer slightly different things just like 99.

Thoughts?

Makes good sense to me. If he is back by October then we can at least give him a 3 month contract and see how he goes in time for the Winter window and MLS opening up. Possibly may mean we let Martial go on loan with a call back clause, if we sign a winger like Sanchez/ Perisic.

We'd have to be pretty unlucky to have both Lukaku and Rash get injured before October and adding the insurance to any Martial loan deal would be sensible. Especially if he is going to struggle for games.

Nah, not for me. I think we need to move on from Zlatan and start building a team for the future.

Zlatan was a good addition last year for his goals and winning mentality but in my opinion bringing him back would be a step backwards and would block the progression of our younger players.

There's no point having younger players in the squad just to have them sat on the bench and never playing.

Also, in 99 we played with two up front.

He probably is. I'd love for us to play two up top against most teams again. I know it won't happen but it would be nice wouldn't it?

Romelu Lukaku said he had asked Zlatan for permission to wear his shirt number. I found that an odd thing to say of zlayan was released. So there may be some truth in this rumour.

{Ed002's Note - ZI is still there getting fit.}

It makes perfect sense. United can make it work for the first half of the season, and then when the schedule gets all heavy, we can add a striker to the squad for the second half of the season. He should be able to overcome the injury, especially if he's to be a supersub for us. Letting him stay and rehab at Carrington is brilliant, and makes it a lot easier to avoid paying for morata or belotti now that we have lukaku.

I wouldn't hesitate sign him up. Short term contract and greizman next year.

Ken I would rather one of the younger players got a chance this season than a 36 year coming back from an Injury who will be off in the summer .

I understand that view jred but the squad is pretty thin on experience. I think overall last year he had what appeared to be a very positive influence in the dressing room and training pitch. Hugely respected by the younger players and his mindset appears to have rubbed off on a few and if all goes well and we are in a good position someone like him wiuld slap down any silly talk or complacency. I just think his experience and stature wiuld be a huge asset. Obvoiusly it would depend on the deal and terms and his game time expectation/ demands but i can see a lot of positives that outweigh some negatives and personally a good gout feeling about it. Hard to explain that but we all have them i'm sure.
