Jose has admitted what we all knew that he want a defensive midfielder and a wideman and they are likely to be matic and perisic by all accounts.

My question is are those two that much better than depay and schneiderlin?

Fair enough memphis was poor by a lot of standards and perisic would most likely be a better fit but morgan has done well since he's gone to everton and i don't think matic is that much better than him.

Memphis apparantly didn't have the right attitude off the pitch and didn't back it up on the pitch.

Schneiderlin I do believe was a loss and wasn't given enough chances but we only see what happens on the pitch and not in training. I believe Schneiderlin is playing more box to box for Everton which we have Herrera for.

Memphis was poor by anybody's standards, his attitude didn't seem right, Schneiderlin seemed to freeze to me, wasn't able to handle being at United, he's not the first and won't be the last.

Names on paper are fine, who had heard of Bailly before we signed him yet he was excellent last year. If Jose wants them then we need to trust his judgement.

Jose knows Matic and what he can provide, so yes, he's likely an upgrade on Schneiderlin. And Perisic is a proper man who'll play hard, do his defensive duties and provide certain qualities on a regular basis, in other words way more useful than Memphis, who like many young kids with too much too early completely lost the plot.

Neither Perisic nor Matic seem too exciting to me either, but they both would help the team. Matic is a pure defensive midfielder, and proven to Mourinho in what he can do. And as far as Perisic goes, maybe we need to trust that Jose sees something more than most of us do. If not the goal scorer we were hoping for, Perisic might be a player who can rack up some assists besides tracking back well.
