Anybody else taken aback by the recent posts suggesting the owners are not willing to back the manager? I find it absurd tbh. According to tranfermarkt in recent years we have paid £89m Pogba (world record), £75/ 90m Lukaku (most ever paid for no. 9), £61m Di Maria, £51m Martial. We have paid £30m or more for a long list of players including Lindelof, Bailly, Mikhi, Herrera, Shaw and on and on. The wages givenn to players like Zlatan, Falcao were enotmous and.

Completely agree. We have spent enormous sums since Fergie retired. Can't just place the blame on Woodward and the people at the top if some of the players have failed to perform to the high expectations.

I think we will find out over the next few weeks. If we buy the likes of Bale, Neymar, Sanchez and add a quality midfield player like Veratti then it will allay some fears over the owners commitment.

If we shop at a lower level then I will question the owners. They already have foisted an immense debt on the club and we failed for years to spend enough to keep us at the level we had worked to get to. Now is the time they have to show ambition on the playing side not just the commercial one.

Woodward is taking the flack for the recent lack of activity but if you look around there aren't many incomings at our rivals. Look at Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool. Between 0-3 players each.

Only City have splashed the cash. If United had just spent over £120 million on fullbacks the papers would be saying we're trying to buy the title and fans would be complaining about overspending.

I wouldn't be against trying to raise funds by selling players. Why not. We shouldn't be fleeced every time we want to buy a player.

In recent years yes the money has been spent. In the previous "no value in the market" years it was not.
We are possibly at that stage now when we get line like the transfer market is crazy so let's see.

Red Man, from everything we have read the only one who might be an option is Bale, it's not as easy as bidding and buying.

I understand that but we must aim high. If City can get Sanchez why couldn't we? I can't see us being in front of them unless we get a Bale level player. I would prefer someone of his age rather than Neymar because I think the door needs to be open for young players like Gomes and Chong if they develop. The thing is that if you take out the transfer of Pogba, who wanted to come back, how many real top level players wanted by the very top teams have we bought since Rio Ferdinand? Note he was pre Glazer.

Makes you think. During the end of safs tenure, was it him not wanting to spend or the owners . Cause if he thought there was no value in the market then imagine what he thinks now.
