It really is amusing the abuse Fellaini is getting on here. My favourite so far is 'if Fellaini was any good why is it only Galatasaray who want him'. First off who is to say it is only Galatasaray who would want him if he was for sale? Secondly Galatasaray pay good wages and have signed many good players in their prime in recent years.

I am not having a go at Matic but to flip the coin, who is chasing this 'superstars' signature who is surplus to requirements at our rivals? Is Madrid bidding? Barca? Bayern? City? PSG? Nope. Apparently Juve showed interest but prefer Emre Can - yeah that guy who can't get in the Liverpool team.

I just feel that it is the same old story here. Folk are never happy and want to ridicule hard working players who have been at the club for a few years. There is this great illusion that signing someone new is always better. Sometimes I think if Utd had George Best on the wing right now there would be fans wanting him replaced by a Hazard or Sanchez or Neymar or whoever is flavour of the month just to satisfy their craving for a new glossy name.

It's crazy. The guys who pat a Matic on the back and flick the bird to a Fellaini are disgusting in my opinion.

I think a lot of the abuse Fellaini gets is because he is almost the poster boy for our lack of success in the league since Fergie left. This is unfortunate for him. I'm not knocking him for that as it is not his fault that he was bought in a window where we didn't but anyone else, it's also not his fault that the timing of his transfer was so late and meant we paid more than we should have. He has also performed better than many over that period and has scored some very important goals under LVG and Jose. One very poor thing is that there would probably be more abuse directed at Fellaini than there would be at the likes of Heinze who actually asked to go to Liverpool. Fellaini hasn't done anything like that and has remained committed through some poor behaviour from our fans where he actually would have had some justification to not give 100%.

Even though he has grown on me and I understand how hard he works, the strengths he has and how it is good to have a different type of player in the squad, I don't think he will ever be seen by many as anything else but a plan b. Considering his biggest strengths are his physical presence and aerial ability he is always associated with a long ball type game, for me he is an ideal 1990's PL player playing in 2017.

Comparing Fellaini and Matic is also interesting as Fellaini is almost played as something of a defensive midfielder but it's not naturally his game. When at his best for us or Everton he has been played a bit further forward. Matic is not being bought because he is going to be a game changer who can win the league for us. He is being bought because he allows players like Pogba to express themselves more as they could potentially lead us to success. Fellaini cannot play the role Matic will. Just as Matic would not be as effective as Fellaini would be higher up the pitch.

Apologies for the long post!

Juventus wanted Matic but baulked at the asking price, it is same problem regarding Emre Can. To add on that Matic wanted to join Manchester United as it has been Quoted from Mourinho

(Mourinho: "I would like to thank him for his desire to join us because without that, it would be impossible to have him. ")

❤.
