I was left with a big smile on my face after that game, a powerful show and probably the best we have controlled a game for years. In fact you could see Gary Neville sensing there is something happening and enjoying it.

Let's remain calm, there have been many false dawns where we started well but it has to be said only a few where I saw that power. People will dismiss West Ham yet they will surprise a few this season, have bought some good players and have been a bit of a nemesis for us, so beating them in the way we did was both surprising and pleasing.

I was a little concerned at Martials reaction to scoring, a little ambivalent, looks like Jose has challenged him and waits on his response. Very talented but must have the right attitude, hope that goal pushes him on.

Only one game but I see the direction is there, the path set, there will be many difficult games and we are still 2 players short. Add a Bale or similar as a No7 and a full back and this could be the season we really challenge again.

What a pleasure it was watching today and Jose to me looks like he knows we are now on the right path, looks comfortable in his surroundings after finding a mess last summer. The foundations are in but we are not there by a long way, however the warm glow after a performance like that is to be enjoyed. Maybe some will even start to believe in Jose.

I think we will challenge as it is Redman. Great options and if be happy if no other player were signed.

However, after saying that, if more players are added it will only be like adding strings to the bow and the tune will be even sweeter.

I think we have a squad capable of winning the league, adding to it means more of a chance in Europe.

Yes I'm not sure a Bale is needed, although that would be pretty much our Premier League trophy. Mbappe is gone so no need to sell Bale now.
