Must say am very surprised no one apart from Spurs have moved for Davidson Sanchez of Ajax. Thought he was great against us last year and has real potential to be a beast of a defender.

I didn't think he was that great. He made a few very good last ditch tackles, but they were down to errors on his behalf in the first place. He was caught out a few times. Thought the young lad next to him was better.

Interesting how we see things differently. I thought Sanchez was far better. Time will tell.

From what I've seen of ajax last season sachez was much more consistent than De liigt but I felt the 17 year old performed at a better level when on form.

As stand said sanchez is very much a warrior at the back with last ditch tackles and almost impossible looking recoveries. These however, having to nitpick a bit here, come from not being the best on the ball, lacking some positional sense, switching off during transitions of defense to attack then having to deal with swift counters.

Saying all that he still was consistently good. A solid 7/ 10 almost every game, this is why he's been voted best young defender in Europe the last two seasons. The fact that he's still only 21, played 1 (soon to be 2) seasons as first choice cb at a success driven club, regular for his country, scores the odd goal, plays alongside a 17 year old and has only played about 100 games shoW's how good he could be.

For 30-40m Spurs could be getting a great player. Or they could be getting the Columbia Phil Jones.

Don't get me wrong the lads got a lot of potential, as has his cb partner. Both young with good futures I'm sure. I just found when I've watched him, he makes last ditch tackles which to be fair to him he seems to time to perfection and it looks brilliant at times, but a lot of these have been the result of him being in a poor position to begin with. Or giving the ball away. I find his best moments tend to come from his worst.
