Before anyone slates me for it, its Just an opinion i have, is it me or does anyone else feel as if we should'nt have gone in for Lukaku? (Not saying it because he missed a good chance towards the end versus stoke) . he's a good player, just isn't Utd quality for me, feel as if we should have gone in for Thomas Muller and i reckon we'd have got him with a £90m bid.

doesn't seem first choice under Ancelotti and hasn't started much games since the beginning of last season. Having him this season and getting Griezmann next would massively push us towards winning the CL, even with Griezmann coming in next season i just cant see us winning it anytime soon with Lukaku upfront, would be enough to win the league though. Feels like an absolute age since we challenged for the CL on a regular basis.

Scholes I humbly disagree. Muller with Griezmann vs Lukaku with Griezmann to me is not much difference as long as Griezmann comes to us. However I feel Lukaku is PL proven and fit in right away whereas Muller may need acclimatization.
Lukaku still can make improvements with proper motivation but Muller is probably plateauing off and maybe downhill. For me why would Ancelotti not choose him if he still has passion and playing at the highest level.
I feel we still need a couple or few additions to make us invincible. We still have to strengthen our defence. Our midfield is pretty ok. We have promising front but we still have to strengthen our wings with good solid crossers.
After that we should be very strong. Hence I agree also with Jose that we need another window to be back to Fergue days.

I think we really needed a player like lukaku he is a great fit imo.

I think he's a lazy player. I also think he's a bit soft. He'll get a way with it as long as he's banging in the goals but it will be interesting to see the reaction from both him and the supporters when he hit's a dry period.

I also think his close control is a bit suspect and he's not a very clean striker of the ball.

That said, I do like the way he runs in behind and gives us options on the counter attack. If he was banging in 30 goals for Everton then there is no reason he can't do that for us and it would be difficult to be disappointed with that.

No doubt he will be great while everything is rosy. I'm doubtful how he will fare if the going gets tough at the top level.

Where as 666red humbly disagrees i on the other hand strongly disagree. Why go in for a 28 yr old sort of striker unproven in the EPL over a 24 yr old quite proven? Not to talk of pace and strength as well.
But like you said scholes, it is your opinion.

Already bashing a player who's scored 4 in 4 this season? His movement has notibly given players like Miki and Pogba more space and options, hence the big wins. Unreal.

I think Lukaku was a great buy. When you look at how he's settled in with the current squad, the friendship with Pogba and Martial and the partnership with Rashford. He's hit the ground running and scored goals. I'm not saying Muller wouldn't have settled but he certainly would've needed time to adjust to a new league and teammates after spending his entire career at Bayern. Plus he's not always played as a number 9, he's not an out and out striker whereas Lukaku is.

Thomas Muller had the opportunity to join Man United a couple of years ago but everything was rosy back then at Bayern. He was scoring regular and was loved by the manager and by the fans. Suddenly he's fell down the pecking order and the manager Ancelotti doesn't rate him as a first 11 starter and Muller suddenly states yesterday that he's open to move to the premiership. How fickle are footballers.
not to mention that I would take Lukaku over Muller any day of the week. I think he will be a massive success at United and easily score between 20-30 goals this season.

Only Aguero has scored more PL goals in the last 4 years than Lukaku. What did we severely lack last season? Someone to put the chances away. Plus a number 9 with movement and pace. Premier league proven. It was a no brainer. Great signing imo. Not saying he's perfect but he's perfect for us.

Stand i'm not sure anyone is bashing him that's a bit of an over reaction. Motatta would have been my 1st chiice simply because i think he is a better all round footballer that said i'm delighted with lukaku. He is making a really good contributiin bith with goaks and with his movement and his overall play will improve. With ibra resigned he has effectively replaced Rooney in the squad and that's a masdive upgrade.
He will score goals and that's his main job.
With ibra to come in we have 2 proven goal scorers and in rash and martial we have 2 players with great potential.

Who's to say Griezmann will sign next year? United's interest might go somewhere else.

"Not united quality"
"Lazy and soft"
"Doesn't strike it cleanly"

Sounds like bashing to me ken. He's only played 4 games.

Stand, im certainly not 'bashing' Lukaku, as long as he's playing for us i'll 100% back him. Maybe its just a personal preference of wanting to have Muller instead, been dreaming of him coming to us for years.

Not to me stand looks like an opinion. I could swear you had a pop at jred yesterday for him jumping on peoples opinions. Seems like double standards. There is lots to lile about lukakus game but there is lots of room for improvement too. He appears to Jane a good attitude to improving so i'm sure he will iron out the weaknesses in his game. i'm sure you can see there are plenty of areas for improvement.

Strange way to 100% back someone.

I'm not bashing Lukaku, but.

Classic.

Ken. Issue yesterday was Jred saying "posters are bored of Valencia and want a new shiny signing" or along them lines as if speaking for the posters. Pointing out that Valencia can't cross a ball doesn't mean I'm bored of him at all. Lukaku has been at the club a month and people are questioning if he was the right signing. That's my point.

16.) 12 Sep 2017
12 Sep 2017 17:32:45
If i was 'bashing' him DB, i'd be criticising aspects of his game, saying he's a poor player, never should have signed him etc., wouldn't call it 'bashing' just because i prefer another player.

I must be reading something else then, because what I read sounded like you said we shouldn't of signed him!

I hate all this he said she said cr@p, usually don't get involved in it. Peace bro, I'm just happy were winning!

After last nights game I need to take back some of what I just said about Lukaku.

I was at the match so I was able to watch him off the ball and to be fair he put in a lot of effort. He was making lots of runs to receive the ball and was also closing down defenders all match.

He seems to really enjoy playing for Utd and it's great to see him prove me wrong.
