No Jordan Henderson? Lol.

{Ed001's Note - oh dammit, now I have to rewrite it all.....}

Good read that ed.

{Ed001's Note - cheers jred.}

no kroos or iniesta or Goretzka ed1?

Also who would you say is the ultimate best? For me its currently Modric.

Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - Kroos is ok but doesn't do enough work off the ball for me. Iniesta I absolutely love but he is not the same player as he was. I have not seen enough of Goretzka to put him in the same bracket.

I did the top 10 on the podcast embedded in the page mate.}

Nice one ed not much to disagree with In those assessments. Of course there are a couole of players missing i hear what you say about kroos not doing enough off the ball but he does enough on it to win 4 cl a world cup several championships in 2 countries and many other cups. He is a class act when supported by players that compliment his weaknesses. The 3 currently at madrid himself cassimero and modric are as near a perfect 3 as you will find anywhere simialar to xavi innesta and busquets in their pomp. good read mate.

{Ed001's Note - but Kroos on his own is not enough, he is terrible without the protection provided by Casemiro. That was why he does not make it, he is too reliant on other players to play well. The rest are all players who make others play.}

Brilliant read that ed and I pretty much agree with it all 😊.

{Ed001's Note - thanks mate. Though I am not so sure you would agree on the top 10 though!}

Good read. can't find anything to disagree with. Good points on Pog.

{Ed001's Note - thank you very much.}

Few years ago, iniesta would have been head and shoulders above the rest. Genuinely think he was more important to Barcelona than Messi in his prime. Great read though.

{Ed001's Note - he is my favourite and it really hurt to leave him out to be honest. I totally agree that he was the heart and soul of Barca and Spain.}

I actally agree with your assessment of Kroos ed1 but he is highly regarded by many people so just asking. Although very few are near him on the ball, he doesn't contribute much off the ball so I myself wouldn't have had him too.

I think Goretzka has all the tools to be a mainstay in that German midfield and most importantly he is playing week in week out so can improve his game.

Cheers ed!

{Ed001's Note - I will have to take a look at Goretzka when I have some time then.}

or maybe its my biased view ed1. Also no mention of Napoli's midfield. Havent seen much myself but heard they are good ed1

Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - the defensive ones are not so good mate, it is their attacking ones that are great and they were not in this list, otherwise Hamsik would be in.}

Nice read. The most important position in the game as well.

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate, though goalies and strikers might disagree with you on the second bit!}

So you don't rate Jorginho at Napoli? Has to be one of the best midfielders in Italy atm.

{Ed001's Note - I like him but I feel he has it a little easier as the way they play means the pressure is more on those players ahead of him, than on him. Both defensively and offensively. If he was playing in a system with more onus on him, and he performed to the level he has been, then yes he would walk into the list. I did consider him anyway, but decided against him for the reasons I have just mentioned.

When I have seen the pressure put on him, which is rarely but does happen sometimes, he does not look anything like as good. It is those games when you see them fall apart, as he just seems unable to raise himself to take the game by the scruff of the neck.}

Interesting read Ed. If Utd were in the market for another midfielder, who do you think would be the best fit for us?

{Ed002's Note - Marcelo Brozovic, and he is a JM favourite.}

Ed002, Is it true that Arsenal are pushing hard to try and buy Brozovic? I have a feeling Herrera is not a long-term choice by Jose and Fellaini would have gone in the summer had we had sufficient cover in midfield. Carrick getting very old in footballing terms. I guess a midfielder or two could be on the cards in the summer.

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal are also interested in him.}

Doesn't matter ed I'm sure you would disagree with my top 10 also just think we are spoiled by stuff like this love seeing other people's thought concerning stuff like this .

Oh and just to be clear ed I believe pogba to be the best, with not a hint of favouritism 😌.

{Ed001's Note - and Matic would be 2nd right? Again no favouritism involved of course....}

You got it mate 😉.

{Ed001's Note - I am going to hazard a guess here, but would Ander Herrera be in at number 3?}

That's interesting Ed002. It's the Milan derby on Sunday so hopefully I'll get to see him play.

{Ed002's Note - He won't be playing in the game.}
