When you set the benchmark so low it's hard not to see improvement, doesn't mean that improvement has turned into genuine quality.

I was £50k in debt last year, only £20k in debt this year, how about that for improvement? hmm, but you are still £20k in debt, and the guy next to you has never been in debt. Plus you earn more than the guy next to you, and the reason you have paid off £30k is because you won the lottery.

Half the games where we have scored multiple goals we haven't played especially well.

Goals aren't entertainment anyway, they are just the result of something. If a team hit the woodwork 50 times in a match, but ended 0-0, I bet that performance was more entertaining than a 90th minute own goal for a team that created nothing all game but it finished 1-0. Goals are an indicator for sure, but aren't the yard stick, the 90 minute borefest is what I'm sick of, a ball hitting a net lasts for a microsecond.
