If reports are right then Luke Shaw is showing alongside Valencia as been one of the fittest players at United. I don't think there is a doubt he is talented as a full back. It leads me to say that as a manager you should select the best players (If fit he is our best left back), but if you are a dictator you will just do what you want, possibly to a detriment to the team. What views on Mourinho been a leader manager or a dictator manager?

I think it's a selling tactic. Telling suitors he's fully fit and is ready to work hard. It's a shop window move. Probably leaked by Jose to a friend/ reporter.

He might be physically fit but us he mentally fit? I think that's what is in question and why he's being bombed out.

Totally agree Sydney. Shaw has worked under LVG, mourinho, Roy hodgson and Gareth Southgate and all have questioned his fitness and attitude. Yet, we still have people on here trying to build him up like he's the best left back ever. I haven't seen him play a good game in two years, and he's utter rubbish with his positioning.

I hope that was not aimed at me Attack? Having seen him play before, he is our best left back. He may not be fit mentally, but that is still the case. Is Mourinho doing anything about that? The lad is quality when performing on his best day.

I don’t think Shaw has ever been given a run. I have no idea what goes on behind the scenes but Poch seemed to get the best out of him at Southampton. I think he’s young and probably not mature yet, a move to United must have been a massive change for him.

He regularly gets slagged off on here yet has he really been given a chance?

I wouldn't say he is our best left back, I would say he is potentially our best left back. His first season was iffy, sometimes he was good sometimes he was bad. But he was never great. We put that down to teething issues, he was young, he was adapting ect ect. Granted he then started his second season on fire, where he was arguably our best player for 6-7 games until he broke his leg. Since then he had nearly a year out injured, he followed that up with a poor season last season (for most of which he wasn't actually injured) . He has done nothing to suggest he is the future world's greatest LB. He has had Pochettino, Southgate, LvG, Hodgson and Mourinho all say he needs to improve his attitude and his fitness. They can't all be wrong. Every manager the kid has had is saying the same thing.

Maybe he has bucked his ideas up, maybe he has changed his attitude and maybe he has got himself fit again. But if it's too late, if he's burned his bridges then we have to accept that. I agree with Syd, I suspect this is something leaked to the press to help sell him. It's convenient timing, and there are no direct or even indirect quotes. Just cloak and dagger, "someone at the club has said". No they haven't, but they want potential buyers to believe that.

Before spending millions of pounds on a player maybe a buying club would give him a medical? Or even have 1 or 2 reliable people on the inside to gauge a players fitness .

Or maybe they would read a story in a newspaper and think " omg Shaw is the fittest player at United, Let's spend 20,000000 quid on him "

I think it's more about telling people he's out working hard to get into shape. Good press so to speak. It may even be the player himself leaking it.

A buying club will pay no attention to an unnamed source in a local rag when it comes0 to spending 20 plus mill

Would you?

I've not been over critical of his play.
I have been very critical of his attitude and professionalism and his desire to be as good as he can be. Yes he has had some rotten luck with injury but he has not applied himself as well as the likes of Gary Neville and Nicky butt for example and for me that shows a lack of desire and players with a lack of desire rarely turn out to be in the higher echelon of players.

It could be a mental issue as you say, I agree with Syd and think it's a leak from within the club to drum up interest in him.
It's a pity, He seems to be a nice bloke, maybe he will go on to realise his potential elsewhere maybe he won't ever realise the potential we all thought he had. But im sure he will go with everybodies best wishes.

I hope he can rekindle his love for the game and his desire and goes on to have a good career.
I'm a little surprised and disappointed that he never got a run of games to prove himself but I'm sure the manger has his reasons. Maybe he is not doing enough to warrant the chance.

Ken syd.
If you 2 can see through the plan do you not think people in the game can.

They will pay no attention to what's in the paper.
