Last night's result is hardly a surprise to many on here.
A team containing rojo blind shaw darmian mctominay an unfit and aging ibra and a player like lindelof who had still to settle is capable of losing to any team.
Out of the first 4 mentioned you might get away with one or 2 of them surrounded by 9 or 10 very good players but put a whole lot of our squad players in together and they are simply not good enough. They have not only proved this last night but have done so over the last 3 or 4 years .
We do not have a good squad. From our current squad only 15 or 16 are good enough the rest are just not good enough and should be sold i'd rather lose with academy kids then watch some of the players that represent us at the moment.
Rojo shaw darmian blind mata miki fellaini and ibra should all be shown the door at the end of the season and herrera could fall into that category too before long.
All could do well elsewhere and good luck to them but none of them have excelled for us as long as they have been here. Tje odd flash but nothing truly consistent
At least ibra scores goals but he is at the end of his career he will probably make a scoring contribution when called on but should only be a rotation option nowadays.
Most of those I mentioned can have good games on occasion but they don't and can't do it every week or 9 weeks out of 10.
They cannot consistently play and win and they have proven that under 2 or 3 different manager's. Sell them get what we can and bring in 4 first class players and promote a couple of academy graduates to pad out the squad.
Our first 14 15 are quite/ Very strong but that currently includes an ageing valencia and young and injury prone Jones and jessie some would argue that those positions need strengthening.
Still a lot of work to do. Keeping our best 9 0r 10 players fit and available for all the big matches is going to be crucial. We just simply can't rely on the squad players en-mass they simply are not good enough and havn't been for years. League finishing positions for the last 4 years prove that.

The over reaction is again a bit pathetic.
We had a better 11 out than Bristol, we should of won but never, credit to Bristol.
Move on.

How many more millions does Jose have to spend to have a squad good enough to beat Bristol.
Bad day at the office but credit to Bristol I thought they played great.

I've worked it out jred.

Firstly, the reason we lost was that we were a) a tad unlucky - hitting the woodwork twice, and b) extremely wasteful. Our forwards played badly in virtually all aspects of the game, well below the level of expectation for a first team United player: poor touch, poor teamwork and poor shooting. Even Pogba was clean through and over dribbled.

City, on the other hand took their chances, both of which came from the left side, so no blame goes to Shaw, who I though was one of the few who acquitted himself well, especially considering the lacklustre performances around him.

The fact is, we already have a squad good enough to beat Bristol City. Even the weakened team out there last night should have done so on the balance of play. But sometimes the footballing gods conspire to beat the best of teams in these circumstances, especially if the higher ranked team approaches the contest with complacency. Nothing is guaranteed. It's not as though this is anything like the first time we've lost to lower teams in cup competitions, and despite that we've gone on to win major trophies.

So the answer is £0.

{Ed033's Note - isn't the answer, 42?

Cup ties like this teams do slip up. We see it time and again. We should have beaten them on paper but didn't. Whatever the reason.

Move on. Still played well this year and second in the league. Second on goals scored. Least conceded. In round of 16 of UCL after a while. Still have the FA cup to come.

Jred which post are you going with the overreaction or how many more millions do we need to spend.

Ed, rumour has it that Douglas Adams, an avid football fan, in all likelihood selected 42 because back in 1979 it was the number of games in the league season. Now there are only 38, so should the answer be reduced accordingly?

{Ed033's Note - Yes, due to austerity measures, i say, let them eat cake.
